Replacement Tires

How loud are the Ridge grapplers on the highway/freeway? The tread looks very similar to a toyo rt. Had a set of those on my old pickup and they were stupid loud. Louder than an MT without the off-road traction.
Reason I'm asking is I'm about to trade pickups and one of the tire options is a Ridge grappler.
Road noise is not an issue, can’t hear them. Maybe a very tad bit.

Thanks to this forum I replaced my Pirellis with the 285/55/22 Ridge Grapplers.
My OEMs went out at 25k. The Pirellis lasted about the same. I had the same issue regarding uneven tread wear. I got my money’s worth. Had them for 4 years and 25k miles. One was replaced by America’s Tire under the certificate because of a flat tire.

Looking forward to these RG’s. I have them on my pickup and they have been fantastic all around. Hoping to try them out in the snow very soon.

I thought I may have rubbing issues but it clears the fenderwell. No road noise issues and rides much better because of the bigger size.

It’s great to finally have more options for the 22” size. A few years ago it was only the OEMs or the Pirellis.

What year is your QX80. I have a 2015 I am hoping the 285’s would fit.

It’s a 2015 also. So far I’ve logged 10k on the tires. Very happy with them. No issues at all. Road noise is not a problem.

Nice!!! But tell us more about any cons for going to that size because I do not want to blindly encourage people to get this size tire for this car.

What psi are you running with those tires?

And did you tell people that those tires are rubbing? I have the same size and mine was rubbing and I had to pull back and zip tie my fenders to stop the rubbing of the tires. Many people would not want to deal with this disadvantage.

I am running Yokohama Geolandar G003 285/55/22. I have 40psi on all 4 tires. They are pure mud tires but definitely handle like all terrain. I am still to go try them out offroading someday.

Just letting you know "PetitFrereArmada", I purchased a 2017 QX80 Limited in large part because of what you did you yours and where you've driven it. I have to say, although I LOVE the look of those Geolanders on your rig, I am not 100% certain of the reliability of these SUVs to go deep into trails in the mountains, etc. I had an FJ Cruiser in the past and a Tundra, and would not have hesitated, in fact didn't, to go anywhere. My first 3 days of owning my QX80 and the starter took a dump and had to be replaced $1450 later!
I wonder what your experience is and thoughts are from a reliability POV??

Mow, to be clear, I've owned, two Q45s, J30, FX35, Maxima, Pathfinder and likely I'm forgetting others .. so I'm familiar with THOSE, but these newer things are more complex and less reliable I think.

Appreciate your thoughts!

Sounds reasonable. I woudln't buy them from the dealership though - go to Discount Tire or NTB. Don't waste your money.
New Tires

Who's bought new tires yet for their Beast??? I have the 20inch wheels, and $tealer finally says I need new tires... Got 57k on the originals.. I'm SHOCKED!!

What tires are you guys using?

Hey guys new here but have been following this thread for years. I had NT ridge grapplers 285 55 installed on my 22s and love them. I’ve got 70k miles on them and they are in need of changing. My question for you all is did these tires cause any issues with suspension. My front struts were bad so I had them replaced by a repair shop and they installed some brand FCS and it seems like I am bottoming out worst than before. It feels like I am riding In boat. The repair shop said it’s bc of my big tires but that’s a lie bc it rode great 20k miles ago. Any suggestions? Maybe a 4 wheel alignment.

I put 285 55 22 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on my 2012 and so far I’ve gotten 71k miles. I’ve had more compliments on these tires.
Pic here

I’ve been lurking on this thread for a while waiting until the day came to change out the tires on my 14 QX80. I’m still torn between the NG, Geolanders or just go really wide with 305s
