Vibrating gas pedal

I have this problem too. I'm in a 2013 QX 4WD. It's brand new with only 1800 miles, so if it gets progressively worse ill take it in. It's alittle annoying, and noticeable. Hopefully a fix comes soon.

Has anyone w/ the "vibration" problem installed a full aftermarket exhaust system? After what my service advisor hypothesized IM willing to foot the money for a new Borla system. He and the tech thought maybe it could be vibration from the exhaust system itself...they were great, wrote infinity but they can only do so much. Im currently stationed overseas and the beast in in storage so when i return to the states in Jan i am going to get it done asap. i will post and see if it fixes problem. I had always felt it but the wifey never noticed it till i told her and now it drives her nuts...soooooo she agreed to let me spend the money :-)

Hi Seoul76...

Interesting thought on the exhaust system... I have not done that BUT did have a so-called on-line "Infiniti Service Expert" say that sometimes exhaust hangers may need to be adjusted to eliminate the vibration. However, this proved to be of no benefit when a Regional Service Specialist came and drove my QX and then adjusted the exhaust hangers. Total strike-out! No benefit whatsoever. Will be curious if you achieve any change.

Yep, some QX drivers "don't notice" the vibtration until you tell them about it - then it does drive them crazy! Again, for a Luxury SUV" in this price range, this is absolutely a built-in DEFECT that Infiniti has known about since the redesign in 2011 - perpetuated to 2012, and now to 2013 models. Yet they refuse to provide a fix.

Vibrating Gas Pedal

As an update after some while, I had the local infiniti Service Manager call me out of the blue last week while I was at work and he said he had 4 Infiniti representatives/experts in his shop (from Japan and TN), and wanted to come to me (my place of business) and have them drive my 2012 QX 56. Well, they did. They returned, and of course said, "yes we all felt it (the vibration), and we took RPM readings when it came in and RPM's when it stopped every time". Further, "it definitely is an issue"... DUH! Said they were relaying that info to the engineers in Japan and also in Tennessee. (Actually one of the 4 was from the Japanese design team).

They mentioned torque converter, and other potential causes but were not sure. Of course the word "harmonics" came up too! But, they all admitted, (unlike Infiniti Consumer Affairs) that this IS not normal and should not happen in this vehicle whatsoever. Finally, someone from Infiniti has the fortitude to ADMIT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE!

So, stay tuned... any updates will be provided. And, oh yes, add one more with this same issue to the list - a few weeks back I noticed a daughter of a neighbor had a new 2013 QX 56, so I took the opportunity to ask, "do you feel a vibration in the gas pedal?". She said "oh, yes, everytime - and my husband is very mad after all we paid for this vehicle"... "it's driving us crazy"... so as I have said here before, this same defect has perpetuated from 2011, 2012 and now 2013 versions of the QX 56!

2014 qx80, 20 miles on it and we have this issue! 22s,awd, HBMC.

I have a 2012 QX56 with tech pkg (basically full load) 22's AWD, HBMC etc. and I have not experienced the vibrations in the gas pedal at all. I have 48700 kms on the odo. I even took it for a spin last night specifically trying to see if I could get that feeling. I did not.

Ok. I have 2014 QX80 4x4 22 inch all options. Around 1100 miles. I THINK I know what u guys r referring too, but not sure. Firstly, just as a first driving impression coming from 2008 model, the gas pedal is very, as best I can describe, kind of golf carty. Very light and disconnected. Basically drive by wire. I do feel a VERY slight zip in my foot after accelerating quickly then aggressively ceasing to accelerate and allowing vehicle to find its gear. I can't say it's annoying though, just kind of , present. U use cruise A LOT, so as soon as I get to the speed I want, I set the speed right away on acc and I'm done with it. It's clearly related to the exhaust because I only sense it when I hear the exhaust rumble. I'm guessing that that is why Marc is not feeling it because he doesn't have the stock exhaust. That changing of the muffler seems to have affected the "resonance" of the vehicle and perhaps cured the issue for him.

All in all, despite some over-engineering and other quirks (see "likes and dislikes") I still love this truck and now call it the "butter mobile" cause it's so buttery to drive.

I'm more confused re: rear display system and why monitors are still powering ("no source") even though I have auto-power selected. Seems they shouldn't have any power at all unless I have either a DVD, or aux sending a signal to them. Odd.

Anyway, good luck. If anyone else changes mufflers, let us know if that fixes the has pedal rumble issue.

@snoozedoc,

not to derail the topic,
but as for the monitors, at least on the 2012 i drive, there is an off setting in the systems display tab you access on the front screen. maybe you have that turned off but if it is on, it can override other settings.

and I think you maybe onto something re: muffler.

the first thing I did to this car (i am coming form a 2008 armada and had the same muff on it) was remove the muffler and the back resonator to open up the throat. the stock muffler is restrictive as well as the resonator on the back.

i remember on an old car i had--actually my first real car a 1991 VW passat, over time the exhaust hangars would need replacing and when the one closest to the front of the car would give out, the tail pipe would rattle a bit. id feel it (and hear it) when this happens.

not saying its the hangars, but could very well be the muff resonance as the muff sits just under the passenger front...

Yah. If the stock is "restrictive", it would make sense that once it's opened up a bit that there would be less vibration. I'm no engineer. Just seems likely the issue here.

@ monitors, I do have the auto power checked. Doesn't seem to do much. Ideally,I only want the monitors to turn on when they receive a signal, and turn off when they don't. I don't really need to get a message "no signal", especially if I'm in the front and can't see it.

Just today, told the wife I feel a vibration in the gas pedal and feels like exhaust resonance. Then, see this tonite on the forums. Going to the dealer soon. 4 days of ownership with a 2012 at 12k miles.

So i dont know if you guys remember i said i was going to install the borla to get rid of vibration, what do you know the vibration is gone!

Wife bought me system and i installed myself w/ help from my eleven year old. Took a few hours but install was super easy and all the parts fit perfectly

Bought from amazon for about $970.00 shipped

Did anyone get this resolved or figured out by dealership?
