Vibrating gas pedal

Bummer

Man, That's a shame Ronretro. I cannot believe they are saying there is no fix, there is generally always a fix. I mean its drive by wire, they should be able to put a isolation block under the accelerator and adjust the Length of the accelerator pedal?
Back in the old days there was an actual rod that attached to the accelerator and it went through the firewall to the Carburator that was on the motor. I could understand a slight vibration there.
Later the car companies used a cable that attached to the accelerator and attached to the throttle body. Now its drive by wire, a electrical signal. That doesn't vibrate.

I guess if you don't have the 'buzz/vibration' you are extremely lucky.
Marctronix let us know if you drive a vibrator version

Thanks for keeping us updated Ronretro. Appreciate it !

no vibrator version here amigo :D. thats why id like to drive a q from someone near me who claims to have this so i can see whats up. thus far, ive had no issues out of the year of driving this thing with all due respect.

Just dropped off Q for oil change and bezel replacement..told SA about vibration,he said he never heard of it but will have someone drive. If nothing else they will have documented info on problem. I always thought it was normal since it was a big liter v8 but all the bmw and mb i have had never did that. Now it bugs the b-jesus out of me. ANyone with this problem in the DC area? Would like to know what other dealers around here are saying....i use Passport Infinity.

I just picked up truck, had SA drive it and he felt it...he said same that infiniti does not have a fix or know what it is but he stated its most likely the resonance from the exhaust. This makes alot of sense,he is going to contact infiniti to let them know. BTW, even my sales women knew of this issue so im surprised nothing is getting done to fix it, replace exhaust system maybe....im at least happy my SA acknowledges the problem and gave me a resonale answer as to what it could be....now the waiting game.

perhaps thats why i dont experience this. i had the stock mufflers removed and i have a magaflow muffler on there. the main muff is right under the passenger front seat area if i recall from when they installed the muff, so its possible. i hear the magaflow muffler but it dont feel any rattling or other nonsense. good plausible idea from the SA seoul...

Marctronixx, wish me luck...got second reply back from infiniti w/ case number.

Seoul76 and others:

Sorry to say that Infiniti Consumer Affairs stated as of yesterday (10/15/12) that there IS NO FIX for this issue at this time. They called me after my local Infiniti Service visit last week (with the Regional Infiniti Service Specialist). From my previous post, I noted that DID NOT work at all!

I had a "spiritied" conversation with the Consumer Affairs Representative, particularly after he stated "...it appears your vehicle is working overall as designed...". The "as designed" comment got my immediate attention, to which I stated back "...are you kidding me?!". This problem is "designed" into every QX 56? You are asking me to compromise and settle on an obvious defect and probable design flaw that Infiniti apparently has no set date for a fix, if at all? He said they are studying the problem, need more complaints, and eventually may issue a TSB! Basically, the ICA Representative stated ICA has completed it's obligation to me, and will notify me if and when a fix is discovered.

That's the status for all of us with this problem. The local Infiniti Service Centers cannot fix this issue. Mine in my home town are at wits end over the lack of Corporate Infiniti response. I on the other hand am telling the few folks I know with QX's (11 or 12) to complete the ICA web-based survey to get that case number as I have and obviously Seoul76 has, as well. It can't hurt and it surely won't help us all if you don't.

Thanks and will provide any news or updates if I hear anything positive.

Ronretro...

Highly disappointing to say the least, as well as INSULTING!

I received notice that a regional specialist will be contacting me for individualized mitigation (lol) Sound familiar Ronretro???? Seeing how infiniti is handling this im happy knowing my SA acknowledges a sensible reason for this problem...he has called them and let them at least know what he thinks it is. Im HOPING that whatever they attempt to do will address the resonance in exhaust and not replacement of hangers and such...this ISSUE is a major problem as i stated before, my sales person told me in person (does not want to be named) this is an issue......Please help spread the word and get a case number!!!!!!!!!

vibrating gas pedal

WELL SAID, Seoul76! We have the SAME story and ICA feedback it seems.

So is it fair to assume that the issue will be seen in 2013's as well?

no its not fair to ASSume that. I have a 2012 that was born in august 2011 (bought in october 2011) and at current i do not have this issue. its easy to think its widespread when you see a couple websites posting with a few owners.

i am not trying to downplay anything nor am I trying to insult anyone's intelligence! please understand that! I am just saying web forums are designed by nature to host complaints as opposed to praise for anything.

des, simply test drive one now and see if you feel any issues.

again no disrespect to anyone! ive had my car for a year now and i still get excited when i get in and press the start button. smooth as butter and no issues currently...

Marctronixx... consider yourself fortunate in that you do not have this issue...
However, to be very clear, this problem (which I submit is a design flaw), is beyond just a few people on Forums like this, and to "minimize" the issue to that is just plain innacurate.

Infiniti Consumer Affairs admits this is a widespread issue, Regional Infiniti Service Specialists (namely the one who drove my QX and attempted a fix), and my local Infiniti Service Department flatly admit it is a widespread issue (they hope for their sake Infiniti will find a fix for). So I claim this is not just a "forum complaint" of a few people.

For the question on the 2013 QX and if it will have this issue, sad to say, I bet it will. Why? Because Infiniti has NO FIX at all for this problem on the 11 and 12 models, so if they found that "fix" for the 13's, surely they would send the TSB out now, to keep the current customers happy and simply to not have to continue getting serious complaints from the current owners AND the local Infiniti Service Centers. Mine in particularly continues to call Infiniti to seek that fix!

So congratulations on not having this issue, but understand this is a far bigger issue for those on this Forum, and many others, who do have this problem.

Ronretro

opinions are plenty so no worries mate. nothing to congratulate about.

i am not the only one that does not experience this issue. there are many many late model Q drivers who have no issues with this at all. the reason you dont hear from those cats is they will not usually post up on a site to express how great their car is.

again, not trying to belittle this issue some of you experience, but it is not fair to just ASSume all future models will have this issue either.

EDIT: so just so those of us are clear lets list what models/trim experience this.

year:
do you have 22s?
do you have AWD?
do you have the HBMC system or no?
are you a previous Qx or armada driver?

maybe if you cats list these perhaps it can help narrow things down a bit??

for example, ive a 12 Qx all options (22s, HBMC AWD) and i was an armada driver of a 2006 and 2008. both 4wd and never had any issues with either. i even had 24s on the 2008 and no issues.

are many of you used to body on frame construction?

Has anyone tried to run their vehicle in manual mode to see if it makes a difference? I tried it this morning and the vibration was at a higher rpm and did not seem to be as strong. I personaly think this is a transmission issue.

No vibrations with my wife's 2012 QX.

So got the call back from infiniti....they state that they are aware of issue because it has been reported by other dealers but there is not a fix as of yet. Soooooo that means when they get a TSB i will be notified...all i can do is laugh...person who called me was very apologetic...im still laughing, know it is an issue but have no fix so deal with it untill there is a fix...still laughing, lol.... I still love my Q though

seoul76 - predictably same response I got from ICA... consistent with my "widespread issue" comments earlier - Infiniti's words, local Infiniti dealers' words, and the "Regional Infiniti Service" specialiast's words... they all KNOW this is a common issue -don't hold out hope for a TSB anytime soon, I was told. So, as I stated, IF they have no fix for the 11's and 12's, what makes anyone feel good that the 13's will roll off the assembly line magically cured?! I hope they are so as to provide a real vehicle to analyze and provide us that have the issue a fix!

Yeah, mccins1, I drive our 2011 in manual just about all the time. I have no vibrations. 20 inch wheels, 2wd. It runs like a champ. I do only purchase Pure brand gasoline, no ethanol in it. It very seldom drops below 21mpg on a tank mpg, avg.
But I only have 3 stop lights that my wife has to go through when she takes it to work.
It has 6250 miles.
Great vehicle.

i too drive in manual sometime. hey parrot, do you let your foot off the pedal, shift, then give it gas like you would in a real manual?

I dont have any vibrations when in manual either...
