Hello, glad to see this form has some activity and look forward to being able to contribute. I have a 2017 QX80 and I've been having problems with the clarity of the bluetooth. I can hear people just fine, but they cannot hear me well. My voice is not clear. They say it sounds like I'm in a tunnel or underwater. They also say there is what sounds like background noise (I don't think it actually is as I'll explain).

It seems like sometimes clarity is better than others but overall it's never been good. We recently upgraded my wife's phone so I was hoping that might improve the performance but there was no change. The phone is a Samsung Galaxy A52 5G. I've also tried with my phone a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the same quality issues exist. I've searched around to see if others are reporting the same issue but haven't come up with much for the QX80. I found some comments about adjusting the microphone sensitivity level in the cars diagnostic menu settings (with car in park and radio off, press settings and then turn the volume down several turns). I tried adjusting the sensitivity between low, medium & high and there's no apparent difference in my test calls. I was making the test calls sitting in my garage with the engine off (just in ACC mode) and my wife said she still heard background noise as if I were on the highway. I've seen a few other comments about echo cancellation settings on phones but I don't see any settings I can adjust on any of my phones.

Is anyone else having this issue? I know Infiniti had problems with bluetooth back in the '06-07 time frame but I was expecting that to be fixed by now. Pretty annoying that I can't use this feature for a decent conversation.

usually iphones are the ones with these issues -- rarely have i seen androids with this, and even more rare was it samsung.

one thing is nissan use old standard bluetooth stacks that are compatible with a larger variety of phones. newer phones have BLE now and sometimes the BT stack isnt compatible with nissans. i know you mentioned you tried a note 5 (im a diehard galaxy user and never had any issues with my notes across my time with my 2012 qx56).

so did you just get this car or have you had it a while? did you always have this issue on day one or did it just occur/pop up one day?

if you can stop by a dealer and test this on a qx on the lot, this may yield you some fruit to see what side of the coin the issue may be.

I've had the truck since 2018 and the bluetooth has never been good. My wife is the primary driver and her prior phone was a dinosaur (Note 2). It worked okay occasionally but most of the time it was poor. I thought maybe it was because the phone was so old and perhaps a new phone would work better. Turns out the new phone is not good either. That's when I decided to do more testing with my Note 5 and it has the same problem. So three different phones (Note 2, Note 5, A52 5G) and they all have poor quality which makes me think it's the truck and not the phones. I've seen plenty of complaints from many years past about Nissan/Infiniti bluetooth quality. My '07 G35 isn't good. If the person I'm talking to is making any noise at all it will cut my microphone to avoid a feedback loop. I'm pretty sure it's bad firmware that was later updated. All of that was long ago and I don't see many recent complaints about the QX80 so I'm not sure why I can't get mine to work well.

I could try out a new one on the lot as you said. It it works well and that proves it's the truck I'm not sure how much luck I'll have getting it addressed. In my experience the dealers don't seem very good at diagnosing and correcting problems like these.

no doubt the nissan head unit/av system is outdated and some owners over the years have had some issues as you are. there for sure can be some lemons out there in terms of the head unit. i know nissan used to update these at a time and used to have a site up that showed compatible phones. in your case, with all the troubleshooting, it could be your head unit and/or the mic. there have been recalls over the years if memory serves that the mics in some models were replaced due to some poor way of them being installed or some other reason -- this was earlier model years though.

worth a shot if you can test with a car on the lot to see if anything has changed. this can at least give you some ground to stand on with the dealer.

Any update to this issue? I have similar issue using iPhone. When making calls from within the vehicle, we can hear the other person, but they hear us cutting in and out.
