Hello all, I hope you are doing well. I don't have a specific issue really. I just bought a used Q70L AWD and I love it, It's like driving around a comfortable couch. It also has the enhanced sound sound system with the speakers in the seats. There is just one thing that troubles me. There's no punch to the low in base. And I'm not a heathen that just wants to vibrate my whole car loose but, the Q50 I traded in really did hit a lot harder on the low end. I went to an aftermarket stereo shop and I don't think they really felt what I was trying to achieve. Maybe not, but they suggested 2 10 inch subs in the trunk but they also said it's possible the sound dampening of the car may make it so I still don't feel it. So I guess I'm hoping someone hear felt the same way and solved the problem somehow.

Maybe, replaced the stock Bose Amplifier, which I'm not sure you could even do, I bet it is so ingrained that the factory radio wouldn't know what to do. if you reeplaced it with something with more wattage.

I also though about replacing replacing the speakers in the doors with some really nice heavy duty mid range speakers that had built in amplifiers.

If it isn't obvious yet, I'm know stereo savant, but I do hold in high regard quality sound. So I thought I would post here and see if anyone had upgraded they're Q70 and how you went about it. Or even if you know a lot about car stereos and ha suggestions, please do let me know.

Anyway, I wish everyone well and appreciate any feedback.

I'm in the same boat, Russ. Would also appreciated any info on how this issue might best be navigated.

I ended up replacing everything. 3.5 mids, all door speakers took out the subwoofer in the deck. Had a sub box built. 1 12 inch subwiofer and 3 amps along with a JL audio sound processor. A lil over kill. But it sounds amazon!

I've a 2012 M37 with the "Deluxe Touring Package" with digital 5.1-channel decoding and 16 speakers (with speakers in the seats). I'm not sure if our systems are 100% identical as I believe they have got rid of the hard drive in your model and there may be other changes...

You may be fighting your car's noise cancellation system:
Active Noise Control uses sound to delete sound – generating “canceling” sound from four door speakers (and subwoofer for models equipped with a Bose® sound system) to reduce unpleasant engine harmonics. The cabin noise levels are monitored by two microphones located in the M’s ceiling, with no action needed from the driver and passengers except to enjoy the quiet, comfortable cabin.

I don't really notice mine anymore, but I sure did for the first year or so. I read on some random thread that the system goes into bypass mode if the drivers door is opened, so I tested it out and the "Wow and Flutter" (I know it wasn't, but it *sounded* like it!) went away if I opened the door a bit at speed...

I'm not a big bass kinda guy, more 80's shredder and prog rock hero, but it felt like there wasn't enough punch, if you get my drift. Playing around with the bass/treble mix and a rear bias fade helps, I would also disable all that BOSE smart surround stuff - after all "All Highs and no Lows... must be Bose" was a thing for a while. I do give up some max volume with the eq settings... I would definitely agree that she leaves me wanting for another number or two on the volume knob. It needs to go to 11.

However one area where this systems really shines is in 5.1 DTS Audio. Concert Videos and such are sonically impressive. Get Rush's Moving Pictures Deluxe DVD - it has been remixed for 5.1 and seriously shines in this car. Oh man... I cant wait for quitting time and I'm gonna listen to YYZ all the way home! Seriously, opening the sound stage like this and putting the drums and bass in the back makes so much room for the other instruments - it is more clear and louder than when playing 'music'. I haunt amazon for DTS Surround mixes of all my favs now.
