I just bought a 2023 QX80 Luxe and it now has 1200 miles on it. At around 900 miles the cooling fan started engaging via the visco clutch mechanism. This manifests itself as a very noisy roaring coming from the engine and approx 50% loss of power to the drive, and it does this for most of every trip short or long. The thing sounds like a semi truck taking off. After many calls I discovered that the dealership I bought it from told me this is a "known problem, and we've already replaced 3 of these fan clutch mechanisms on 2023 QX80's at our dealership"!

I had called Infiniti support trying to get them to help. However they never told me that they already knew of this issue, our gave me the feeling they cared enough to make me happy and take it away and fix it. Like many Infiniti owners, I live about 2 hours drive from the nearest dealership, and 3 hours from where we bought it 6 weeks ago. Infiniti told me to drive it to the nearest dealer, where they will diagnose the issue, then they will order any parts required, then I will have to come back and get the repair done. So several trips back and forth to get a new car fixed! I'm not sure the car is safe to drive with this issue. They would come a tow it away, but then they said I'd have to come and pick it up, as they will not deliver the car back to me! I dont have someone to drive me 2 hours to pick up my car! I expected much better service from a so called "luxury brand vehicle" but apparently that is jot going to happen, not with Infiniti!!!

Anyone else having this same issue on 2023 vehicles? Any comments on the support experiences from InfinitI by other Infiniti owners?

All I can say is that this will be the last time I will buy an Infiniti. They could have kept me happy, but they chose not to, and just give me the run around and have me do all the work.

Thanks

from what i understand, the clutch fan on these newer models is electronically controlled, like the alternator has been for a while on these cars, so you are experiencing behavior ive read from other newer owners like yourself. it could be a software fix, it may be something that requires replacement -- not sure on that.

you are frustrated and its understandable you want to vent about the lack of service you feel you should be getting. nothing any of us can do about that.

Not really wanting to vent as inform any potential buyers of the issue and inform on what I perceive as poor support by Infiniti. Do not expect anyone here to do anything about Infiniti support, just wanted to educate and see if there are similar experiences out there.
Thanks.

that is your experience which is unacceptable, and it is helpful that you are giving potential future owners your experience. hope you are able to get it resolved to your satisfaction.

Well they replaced the fan clutch yesterday and confirmed this is an established problem for all 2023 QX80's. Mine is back to running normal again, and the shop did a first class job I have to say. Just be aware if you own one or are thinking of buying one. Took about 2 hours to do the job including an oil change.

Good luck.

So plz can you update us on the current situation after you did the replacement

Same issue. I thought I was crazy thinking something was wrong with brand new vehicle, but same issue. Told the same, “having lots pf problems” with this model, year etc. Great. Why buy new vehicle, if already something going wrong.

I have a 2019 Infiniti QX80 luxe. I bought it at the end of 2018 and the fan clutch finally went out at the end of 2023. About an aftermarket part and replacing myself, and it went out again about a week ago. So this seems like a common issue with these vehicles. They should definitely be on the recall list so owners won't have to come out of pocket for a faulty part.

This time I was looking to buy an actual Infiniti fan clutch. Just in case buying the cheap replacement was the reason why the one I put in failed.

But after reading your issues I suspect this is a common problem with these vehicles.

Is anybody know where at the places to get these parts? I've tried to go through Infinity USA and none of the parts are in stock, and the prices are outrageous.
