well, I was changing the oil last time back last month and I decided to send an oil sample off to the Blackstone oil analysis lab. It looks pretty good, I had ask if there was anything in the oil that would indicate an issue with timing chain wear. They said there was nothing indicating such a problem. I think the high copper is possibly from the motor still being tight and not completely broke in yet. That's my theory. One interesting part, I had 3200 miles on they oil and they indicated it was like oil that had 5600 miles.

I need to look up what some of the minerals listed means and their value
I will do another analysis next change to see if there is a trend on the copper.
That motor flat out runs. You all know that. :D
Anyhoo, I thought you might like to see what an oil analysis says,
Best regards

since i let infinit change Fatz's diaper, i dont have an opportunity to capture the oil. i agree its a good thing to do though...

Hmmm....and that's using a synthetic oil....imagine what a conventional oil would look like....jeez. I also let the dealer change the oil every 3,750 and I do bring my own oil, Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, but I might draw some out through the dipstick and have it analyzed before the next oil change. I don't know why this engine is so hard on oil but for a synthetic to look like almost twice the mileage really says something.

Definitely watch that copper though...

Yep Thats what I thought too rsanders24. I don't rag my motor or race it. We take care of it. Run it to Charlotte NC from VA once in awhile. It doesn't tow.
It runs good though. I'll post up the next ones on here,

LOL ' diaper' you crack me up Marc ! :D

Have a good one !

I have been using the Mobil One filter. It is made in USA, where the Nissan filter is now made in chiner. ( not even the good china - Taiwan)

Bosch also makes a filter to fit the QX-56 & QX-80. It is made in USA by Purolater and is suppose to be a good filter. There is a K&N filter listed too. Baldwin has a filter listed for the QX-56, but I have not found it anywhere to try it yet.

The funny thing is that the same Mobile one filter fits my 2011 Triumph GT motorcycle :).
So If I sell the QX, I can still use my filters and vice versa.

Have a good one !
