Does anyone here have experience or knowledge on using an XBOX 360 in the QX56. Mine is a 2011. Will the electrical outlet in the QX power the XBOX sufficiently? Just plug it in, hook it up to the AV and it'll display on both rear screens?

Thanks for any info. I searched but couldn't find any discussions on it.

the outlet is not sufficient power for the xbox. get an external DC-AC power converter and you are set.

Thank you for the information.

Do you know how much power the external DC-AC power converter should have, to sufficiently power the XBOX 360?

I actually already have one, but I'll have to dig it up, it's somewhere in the garage. I don't know how much power it pushes, but I do remember a few years ago it was unable to reliably power a baby bottle warmer. :/

i dont have an xbox so i dont know how much but 1000 WATT CONVERTER will have enough. anything 500 watts and less will not be sufficient.

I finally got around to digging out the converter I already own. It's listed as 350 watts, with peak 700 watts, so I'm guessing it's not going to do the trick. :/

I also noticed it plugs into lighter port, and said for anything over 150 watts, to wire it to the battery directly.

I assume if I get a 1000 watt converter I can run it from a lighter port, and not direct wire it?

Direct wire to the battery is MUCH recommended!! Cig ports cant carry a lot of sustained amperage and those consoles are power hungry (they are computers with fast processors that need lots of power).

getting a wired line from the battery (inline fuse too) is not a huge cost, and is a small (very small) price to pay to have piece of mind that nothing will get damaged.

that peak wattage of 700 watts is not sustained so i would shut down if kept at that level for a given period of time.

have a car audio shop wire up one for you.. :)

I run our XBox 360 just fine from the AC plug in the QX. We initially tried the PS3 and it wouldn't work. I agree that there's probably a safer solution as marktronixx pointed out, but we regularly do trips from Memphis to Atlanta (5 - 6 hours) with the XBox 360 hooked up in the back for the kids and have never had an issue. It displays on both screens.

xbox and ps3 may have different power consumption ratings.

its worth a try to test the inverter on the port there but be ready of the fuse pops or the inverter beeps/shuts down. i may be conservative in my view but if you want to use a 1000 watt inverter, pay a couple bucks to get a shop to install it properly and fuse it properly. its really not expensive.
