Will it Fit?

I’m considering getting an 11 QX and before I take the time to go for a test drive I’d like to get an idea on what it can actually fit cargo-wise.

Specially can you fit 4’ x 8’ sheetgoods inside? Meaning drywall, plywood, etc. Every time I need to haul something I have to borrow my wife’s mini-van and take out the seats. Which also leaves her stranded as she won’t drive a manual transmission.

According to the 3rd row hip room measurement of 48.8” I would imagine it should.

I don't know why you'd wanna haul construction material in a $40k+ Lux SUV. The delicate fine leather and upholstery won't stand up to that kind of stuff. If I were u, I'd spend the darn $19 for the 75mins truck rental that both Home Depot and Lowes offer, and save the wear and tear on this fine truck. Or if you really need to haul stuff daily, buy a used minivan or Dodge Durango for that stuff, you can get either really cheap.

I have to agree with roughyear on this.

I bought a 5X10 utility trailer for that kind of crap.

Yea, I cannot imagine putting a 4x8 sheet of anything in the back of the QX - really?!?!

Yes, it'll fit. I had a 4' wide table in there the other day with no problems and length shouldn't be an issue either since it fit in my 07 Tahoe and the QX is bigger. They usually design these SUV's around that 4x8 sheet of plywood.

They make hauling blankets, I'd make sure everything was covered. I've hauled plenty of drywall and sheet goods in my wife's van before and its no worse for wear.

Not something I would do often just wanted to make sure it was capable of doing it. Other than a mini-van or full size GM/Ford SUV I don't think anything else does. And I don't like any of those.

My hatch hauls most of what I need with the seats down but it would be nice to not have to borrow the mini-van as much or to buy and store a trailer (which I have no space for). Plus I'm no good at maneuvering those things, I've tried.

For really big stuff I have access to an F250 and if need be my brother has a large trailer.

It's just that except for commuting to work I end up driving my wife's mini-van for the most part. Ideally i'd just prefer she get the QX but most likely she'll buy another mini-van.

If I end up getting a QX my hope is after a couple of years she will want it and then I can just get something less practical.

I typed in a long response this morning but it never showed up. Oh well, thanks for confirming my assumption on capacity. I always take good care of my vehicles so rest assured the interior would be well protected.

4x8

Killer, I never thought about that. (plywood)
Its a good grocery getter. It would probably pull stumps if you wanted: )

Have a good one,

I prefer performance vehicles but I need a certain level of functionality and none of which that provide both are in a price range I’m willing to pay. I prefer a luxury vehicle to have 2-3 years of depreciation on it. So my thinking and why I’ll be test driving is if I’m giving up on performance (not sure I can do that) I may as well have something luxurious and comfortable so I’m not stuck driving the mini-van whenever it’s not just me in the car.

I have a thing for performance vehicles also, and love driving the QX.

Beautiful Cobra. Alas for me it's mostly shuttling the children around even when I go to work I drop them off so while I would really love a roadster it would just sit in the garage 90% of the time.

When the kids are grown up though.... :)

$40K...wow you got a great deal!

If you have room, just buy a cheap utility trailer off craigslist for a couple hundred bucks. If you have the 7 seater, the sheets of drywall or plywood will be sitting on top of the 2nd row console when the seats are folded down. Make sure you have a blanket handy to protect the plastic and leather.
