Hi everyone,
After reading many of your posts and test driving numerous SUVs my wife and I have decided to buy a '12 QX56 with 4WD with just the theater package. The dealer I went to priced the car at $66239 which is just $26 below MSRP. It seems like I should be able to better than that, no?

I live in New York if that matters. What price should I be trying to negotiate to?

Thanks. Looking forward to my new ride:D

Go somewhere else. We got quoted between 62500-63500 in the Boston/NH area. We ended up getting full loaded 2012 for about 4,200 less then MSRP.

2012 qx56

I purchased a 2012 QX56 for $5000 off of MSRP last month from a dealer in Washington. Apparently there was some month-end incentive that allowed the dealership to offer such a discount. There was a mad scramble to close the sale in August, so I do not know if this incentive is still available (or really, if it ever even existed - they are car dealers right? You never know what their true "cost" might be!!!)

Anyway, I am thrilled with everything about the car with the exception of the fake wood on the steering wheel, the position of the cup holders and the in-town gas mileage. I really dislike the feel of the steering wheel, but $1700 is a bit much to swap it out for a plain leather one!!! The cup holders are too far to the right on the console, but I will get use to them, eventually! Gas mileage on the road has been good -19+ but in town is truly bad - about 9 mpg!!!

While I am nit-picking, the Infinity rubber floor mat on the driver's side is truly a bad design. They have cut so much away from the gas pedal (liability concerns I am sure!) that they do not protect the most wear prone area of the interior. I would guess that the mats are a full 6 inches away from any part of the gas pedal and leave this area totally unprotected from water and wear! The mats are a waste of money if you are looking for protection from carpet wear by the gas pedal! I hope that WeatherTech comes out with a decent set of rubber mats for our car.

On a positive note, the Prestige Society Module is brilliant!!!! Who ever designed this did and awesome job!!!

Despite my rather small complaints, I do love the car though and I am very pleased with the overall quality and performance!!! I believe it to be the best luxury SUV on the market!!!

OP here,
Thanks for your responses. It certainly sounds like I should be looking for a better deal.

Mark,
Did the dealer install the Prestige Society Module?
Thanks

mark you deal sounds great but what all is on your car? is it fully loaded? 4X4? i have a 2012 4X4 fully loaded all options offered from the factory and includes cargo mat/net, first aid, kick plates, hood deflector, impact sensor, roof cross bars plus i received a bit over 6K due to VPP. it was at end of September.. last day actually. i was able to get $69K for the car. is this a great deal for everything above? i dont know but i was pleased about it. i dont know how to haggle and dont have time or patience to pit dealerships against each other to see who will win out. to those who put a lot of time and effort into searching for that great deal, well i expect them to find IT!

i think there are those "one time" great deals that mark received and then there's the average deals. to the OP, do not feel discouraged if you do not get one of these lottery type deals. nissan does not need to drop a load of discounts on the 2012s because the model is selling pretty good according to reports i read when i was researching the car.

as for the prestige thing, you can build a kit using two relays and a DPDT switch and it would cost you about 20 bux. you can use the couplers that "bite" to pair up wires without splicing into them and therefore everything is reversible. plus you can mount the switch so its easy to operate or hide it.

i had this kit on my 2008 armada and it works exactly as this 300 dollar module costs.

Car options and Prestige Module

In response to Marc above, my car is a 4X4 and has everything except the Technology package. You received a better deal than I did, but like you, I got the car I wanted and did not have to dealer games to get it. I did everything over the internet and never stepped foot on to the dealers lot. The dealership even delivered the car 250 miles to my front door for no additional charge.

I also agree that the Prestige Module, when you look at it, appears pretty basic and simple. However, there are certain things I will trust to specialists. I do not want to remove my kids braces, I do not want the lowest cost Lasik surgeon and I will leave the wiring on my new $70,000 car to the experts! I did many thousands of dollars of damage to a car once when I tried to replace an electrical part that was "simple" to replace! No, after that, I will pay for expertise and proven engineering!!!

Enjoy your car Marc, and I think we can both feel very good about the deals we recieved!

Can u elaborate a little more on this "build a kit using two relays and a DPDT switch and it would cost you about 20 bux." ???? I'd love to save $280 if that's possible.

Thanks

i have not read the forum rules so i am not sure i can post links to other sites.

the armada and q are both nissans and its a safe bet this mod will work with the q. it uses the same hdd system the 2008s and up use. looking at the service manual it has the same setup wiring wise from what i can see. i am not an electronics expert so this is my opinion.

ive reached out to the guy who were making these kits. i will see if he will still make one for me. i have an old diagram (a very very very rough sketch of how the kit is to be wired together BEFORE you install it into the car) this guy drew up for those of us who wanted this mod on the 08s.

this info is readily avail on the web if you search using the correct words.

i will follow up to the class here once i (hopefully) hear back.

Looks like dealers in CA are discounting upto 5,000 off MRSP on 2012 and upto 6,000 off MSRP on 2011 models now. End of the year approaching i guess.
