on my 2012, I changed my engine air box filter today and noticed there is a small tube on the side of the box closest to the fire wall. it may be coming from the tranny or oil case or some such and it seems to be a vent--its not connected to anything but its attached to the air box by a clip.

can one of you kind chaps take a look on that side and see if you see this tube?

2011 and up QX....

thanks family...

My 2012 only has the larger 1" corrugated tubes coming off of it and the side closest to the firewall has a connection that goes into a system of those tubes heading into the firewall, across the firewall, etc.

Can you take a picture?

there is a little small tube there. its the tube closest to the air box.

Also,

to confirm im not an idiot, can someone look in the air box and see if the filter has the longer pleats on top or if the pleats face towards the bottom of the box.

see attached photo from service manual. it shows the longer pleats facing the TOP.

does my question make sense? I didnt pay attention when removing the old filter and it seems the filter can go in either way. right now i have the longer pleats facing DOWN which is opposite what the service manual shows.

EDIT: so on the filter, one side of it has the manufacture symbols (looks like a clock with an arrow pointing to the time it was made) and the other side does not, so im ASSuming the side withOUT those symbols would be facing down into the filter box... :o

ive a 2012. hope I am making sense. again i think i have the filter in the right way but if anyone can just check... :o

Hose vent

Hey Marc: I bet that is the vent or either your front axle or transfer case. I don't have that hose as I am two wheel drive. I do see the tab on the air filter intake box, but no hose hanging on it.
Have a good one
