Transmission fluid replacement

The tranny fluid had never been changed on my 2011 with 100k. I opted for a fill rather than a flush for cost reasons and I figured I could do it myself. Replaced my transmission fluid using Valvoline Max Life. I used the garden sprayer method. I attached the sprayer to the adapter piece that attaches to the filler hole and filled the exact amount that came out of the drain hole. I read somewhere that the full point is when the fill hole begins to flow out when filling. But the amount that came out when I drained was about 2 liters over what would have been to the point where it was draining from the fill hole. Which is right? Would hate to over/under fill.

SUV runs great btw. Before it had a bit of shutter at low speeds.

After you refilled with new ATF, did you start the truck up and let it get to idle or let the ATF reach 104°F? If not, do that and then open the overflow plug. When the ATF starts to drip, then install the overflow plug and you're all set.

Thanks. This doesn't explain why I had more fluid initially-from the factory.

I apologize, I did forget to mention once the ATF1 temp is approx 104°F, is when the truck should be at idle and then remove the overfill plug. If nothing drains out, then add ATF until it starts dripping out.
