I have just started on this forum and noticed that there are individuals inquiring about the purchase of a new QX56. I thought I would share some insight on the potential discounts available to those people considering buying a new QX. I used to be a car broker, and have been a part of many deals through the years. Here are some potential money saving tips when buying one of these great SUV's new.

1) Selling at Invoice-Dealers don't usually like to, but they will more than you think. Ask to see the invoice and tell them this is our starting point. If they balk at it, then threaten to go to another dealership and then you will see them sell it here. Don't be afraid to ask.

2) Rebates/Dealer cash-Infiniti does not like to offer rebates because they are factory to customer by definition. They do however, offer dealer cash which is factory to dealer which the dealer may or may not offer to you. They don't have to offer this, but if you ask what the incentive is, they will tell you. The past 2 months the dealer cash was $4000.

3) Infiniti financing incentive-Infiniti offers a cash incentive towards the purchase of a new QX if you finance with them. This is currently an additional $1000. The rates are excellent and are offering financing up to 72 months from 1.9 to 2.89% if you qualify.

4) Holdback-Manufacturers like infiniti have what is referred to as holdback money. This is money that the manufacturer gives the dealership once they sell the car as a bonus. Infiniti holdback is 1.5% of MSRP which equates to about $1000 on most of these SUV's.

5) Doc fee-The dealership will tell you this is for the cost of processing. It is 100% pure profit. They have to show it in the bill of sale, but you can demand to have it deducted from the final agreed cost of the vehicle.

6) Marketing/Flooring assist money-Infiniti will give the dealership money to market the vehicle locally. Often times this money is already used, but it is usually around $1000.

7) VPP money-Infiniti has a special program where they offer special lower pricing on their vehicles if you or one of your immediate family members works for a certain company. Look online for this list, as it usually will give you an additional $750-1250 off. I do not work for any of these companies, but I called infiniti consumer affairs, and they gave me a VPP number to claim a discount because I had already owned an infiniti.

8) Buying a demo-Most dealers will have one or two of these on the lot that they will offer mileage credit on. One dealership I spoke with was willing to give me 55 cents per mile credit on a demo it had with 2000 miles which would of equated to an additional $1100 off. See if you can find one of these.

I hope this helps, and as you can see there is some room to play on these vechicles.

I just bought one 2 weeks ago new liquid platinum with 92 miles with an MSRP of $67,420 for $53,400. This was achieved by selling the truck at invoice, minus $4000 dealer cash, $1000 finance credit, $1250 VPP money, some holdback and a little negotiating.

Good Luck and let me know if you have any questions.

Carnut, good info. I'm trying to negotiate the best price I can for a 2013 QX56.
Thank you for your input.

Couple questions...if you don't mind answering:

1. How would I KNOW how much "dealer cash" the dealer has to offer (from Infiniti)? In other words, they could tell me there is no "dealer cash" offered by Infiniti even though there is, or they could say there is "only" $2000.00 "dealer cash" available from Infiniti, when there is actually $4000.00.
Case in point...I was at dealer today, test driving a QX56. They started off saying there were no incentives or "dealer cash", which later turned into $2000 "dealer cash" after the sales guy "spoke with his manager", ...again!
2. They also said the best financing they could do was 3%, with an 800 score!
How do I know that's the "best they can do?"
3. How would I know if there was a "cash incentive" (that the dealer can offer) to finance thru Infiniti?
4. Marketing/Flooring assist money - I'm not clear about what you are saying here, "this money is already used". Are you saying the dealer will try and "charge" me for this, and I should not pay for it? Or, I should "lower" my offer by a $1000.00 because the dealer has already been paid by Infiniti for this marketing/advertising (meaning it is "built in" to the sticker price?

Thank you for any advice.

I don't believe a 2013 for $32,658. You can't believe everything you read on the net.

In regards to the dealer cash, I would go directly to the manager and ask him. Ask him how much dealer cash, bonus cash, and captive cash there is. One is cash to the dealer, one to the customer, and the other is finance money for using infiniti financial. Ask them directly if there is any cash incentive for using infiniti financial.

The marketing/flooring assist money is used by the dealer to advertise the truck. It is usually used if the vehicle has been there a while.

Do not be afraid to speak to at least one other dealer. U can often learn new info by doing so.

Do u have a VPP number? This will also give u a substantial savings.

Let me know if u have any other questions.

Sorry...in regards to the financing.....if u have an 800 beacon, u r a rock star and should qualify for all the best rates. Tell them u expect to be under 3%, as there r many banks that can get u there. Just tell them if they don't u will finance it elsewhere. They don't want that because they get a kickback if u finance through them.

Thanks carnut. Thanks for taking the time to explain.
I'm going to attempt to get into a new 2012 qx56 (msrp sticker 69,200) for $59,000, based on your examples. I don't have a VPP number, and I have asked if there is a cash discount for financing thru infinity and was told "no" (not sure if this is part of the early negotiating tactic). Their very first initial offer on my first request over the phone was 63,500 (again, w/ a sticker of 69,200), and "probably had a little more room to 'come down' once I came into the dealer.". So, it seems like they are wanting to deal. I'm just not sure if they are still receiving "dealer cash" from Infinity.

And to anyone else out there...Just curious....has anyone out there walked off with a 2013 QX56 for $10g's off sticker yet? Because, of course, I'd rather walk off with a 2013 rather than a 2012.

Thanks again for your input.

U should really be able to get a better deal on that 2012. Try harder, u should get it for 55k

Call infiniti consumer affairs and get a VPP number...this will save u around $1500, maybe more.

Good luck

jetskier, im in LA/SOCAL. once you get your car we should meet one day.

if you have friends who work at nissan or know someone who has VPP through their employer, you should be able to get in that way.

Here is some local info for the author located in SoCal. I'm new to the board here with a new 2012 QX purchase from OC Infinity in Westminster. I got a new AWD 2012 with entertainment package, 22" rims, and protector plates for $60K. MSRP was a little over $70K. I was told that they can do this deal all day long on the 12's but not so much on the 13's. Gaston is the fleet sales guy there and will give you his best deal right off the bat with no games. Super great customer service too. Good luck.

A 2012 is technically a USED car already... I'd look up KBB, which will list a TRADE-IN value of $54k for the QX. That is your maximum dollar amount you want to pay (Last thing u want is to be $5k in the hole when u sign on the dotted line!!!)

Also... wait until the end of March to purchase, they'll be desperate by then and let you have it for Sub-$54k.

Also... make sure you tell them you're in no hurry and looking at other car makes, such as MB and Lexus.... they'll "panic" and keep calling u.

Where I got screwed unfortunately, was on the extended warranty. I paid $2600 for it... 7yr/120k with tire/wheel package. I think I coulda saved another $300-$400, but I had already knocked of nearly $10k from their list price.

Well....
I picked up a 2013 QX, AWD, entertainment pkg., tire and wheel pkg., floor mats/cargo net, rear cargo chrome protector thingy, and side chrome protector thingy. Sticker was $71k+, and ended up at $61k (not incl. tax, license, reg) All 'n all I'm happy with the deal. What I do know is you have to be/seem unattached to buying the vehicle, as I had no intention of buying the car yesterday. They came at me with a price, and I said we are $8000.00 apart, thinking that would not drop it that much...and they did, because they knew I wasn't going to budge. And I wasn't going to budge!

Funny, the Finance guy wanted 4000.00 for the 7 year/100K warranty ($100 deductable), then dropped it to $3300.00. I offered $2500.00, thinking he would take it based on info from this site, and surprisingly, he said, "no way, that's below my cost". So, I said, "okay, forget it". He never budged from there, so I didn't get it. So, if anyone knows where I can pick up the warranty for $2500 (or cheaper), please let me know.

Now...has anyone added an after-market amp and subwoofer to the audio set-up. Great truck, drives like a dream, but a little disappointed on the stereo system. I guess that's another thread. :)

Thanks for everyone's help.

Sick truck!
