Hey guys, just a heads up. I was in to my dealer a week ago getting an oil change done and wanted them to look at two other items.

  • Side view Mirror motor gets loud and "stumbles" when in reverse
  • Battery strap is corroding.

So as it turns out both motors in the side view mirrors will be replaced under warranty. The right side was a couple days away but the left side has to come in from Japan. So 3-4 weeks delay. I'm in no rush but still find it interesting BOTH are failing at the same time.

The battery strap (the one that secures the top of the battery in the tray was corroding severely. They changed my battery about a year ago under warranty and I noticed it getting worse.

Apparently that's "normal" as they said its the battery venting and causing the corrosion to occur. My main concern was that it was leaking and could potentially fail, which as it turns out is not the case. So another FYI I guess.

UPDATE:

Getting these motors replaced this weekend coming...

Both motors in the side view mirrors (left and right) have been replaced. FYI. cost to me would have been almost 2k. So be sure to check those mirrors when reversing (they auto tilt) and see if they stutter or grab as they tilt down and get them replaced under warranty...!

ok... my side-view mirrors are NOT tilting down when I put the Beast in reverse. No motor sound no nothing...

thoughts....

Check the switch....make sure it's either in the right or left position.

Do they move if you move them with the button?

If not check the fuse....and if that doesn't work I pray you still have a warranty...I got mine replaced under extended warranty about two months ago and they are $1,100 per side...and that doesn't include the shell...just the guts...lol

yes check the L/R switch. if its in the middle they will not work.

if the mirrors close and open, it may just be this little over looked switch position...

yup... the L/R switch was not fully engaged to the left..... all working now... phewwwww

(but I swear I slid it to both left/right position before I posted the craziness).

suuuurrreeeee you did rough... suuuurreeeeee... ;-)
