Hello!

Question. Recently the reverse camera on my QX56 has been buggy. When the car is first started the reverse camera does not work, I get a solid green screen. If I shut the car iff and turn it immediately back on the camera works again. Any idea where the problem might be? Clearly the cameras are functioning. I can’t seem to find any information on the web regarding this issue. Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Julie

what year is your car. did you just purchase it or have you had it a while?

has this issue always happened since you owned it or just recently? did you see it begin to have issues over time or did it just start this out of the blue one day?

when the screen is "green", do you still see the guidelines on the display?

if you see grid lines when the screen is green, its most likely the camera. if you don't see anything at all (just the green screen), it could be both the camera and CCU.

further, there could be an issue with a faulty wire harness.

if you've a later second gen qx (based on the patrol), and you press camera, does this behaviour you describe still happen or only when in reverse?

any mods done to the audio/video system or radio headunit?

Thanks for responding. I’ll do my best to answer.
The car is a 2011, we’ve had it for a couple years and the issue started gradually. When we start the car and reverse the screen is bright green, no grid lines. Many times if I turn the car iff and restart the camera will work perfectly and continue to work perfectly until the car is stopped.
We have not done any mods, whatsoever.

I think I’ve covered everything. Thanks for the help!

thanks for the follow up.

sounds like as mentioned, the CCU and/or camera.

there is not "Reset" procedure you can do, so you will have to remove the real panels to access the camera and CCU to visually check if there is anything wrong with wiring. other than that, you will have to most likely replace the parts.

since you lose the grid lines it would seem to suggest its the CCU.
