Removing headrest w/ monitor (monitor issue)

Can anyone instruct me on how to properly remove the driver side headrest? I assume I have to pop the back of the seat. My monitor is malfunctioning and before I purchase a new one, I want to plug in the passenger side headrest into the the driver side seat in order to rule out any wiring issue. Basically I have to get to that wiring harness somehow. The passenger monitor works properly, and as far as the driver side, the screen is getting stuck and ghosting out.

I am having this exact same issue! What was the outcome and where you able to test the drivers screen on the passenger side?

Yes, I had the same problem with mine.

Do you have extended warranty? Then maybe you are covered under it to get a new one.

My extended warranty paid $2,400 (you read it right, $2,400 for a simple dvd player) to the dealership to get my driver side dvd headrest installed. I had to pay my $100 deductible when I picked up my QX.

I was very concerned when I went back to pick up my car. I really was not having it if they stayed behind and maybe fixed it and then reinstalled it. No, they assured me and I inspected the new one very well and the screen did look new, like when you take the film off it and I compared both screens. I could tell one was new, since it was brand new.

So, they basically just bought a new screen. Unplugged the old (faulty one) and plugged in the new screen. Bam! Done!

Now, how can such a small screen like that cost $2,400? When it is not hd or led. $2,400 will buy a very good expensive 4K tv out there which packs way too much technology than the basic 7 inch dvd screen we have in our cars.

Some times I just shake my head at the cost of the things we pay to get fixed on this car.

My advice is if you buy this car, please, get extended warranty.

My warranty has paid over $12,000 in repairs on my car and I bought my warranty for about 1/4 of that price (4 years 48,000 miles bumper to bumper warranty). And trust me, I have never wished this on any car I have ever owned but I want my car to go bad again any time it wants to until my car gets to 145,000 miles when my bumper to bumper warranty will expire.

I mean, there are way too many people who pay thousands on warranty and their cars will only get bad after warranty has expired. Just like car insurance. We may pay it for over 10 or 20 years and never ever file a claim. So, I think it is ok for our cars to break down very well while it is covered under warranty.

The tech bits was the main reason I got the warranty. I bought the one that specifically is their top of the line warranty which is the only one that states it covers everything plus the ELECTRONIC PACKAGE. That is why they have replaced my dvd headrest and camera without any problem.

But my warranty states that if my navigation system stops working, they will replace it only once in the lifetime of the policy.

The only thing it does not or say did not cover that I honestly did not know until I had the problem was my catalytic converter that went bad. I was truly shocked when I had the problem and they told me it is in my warranty that they do not cover that. Apart from that, I think I am very well covered. I look forward to taking my QX to the dealership for tons of repairs, as long as it is covered under warranty since I personally wish to keep this car until atleast 200,000 miles.

in a strange twist, the screen is working again.... hopefully it stays that way. Makes me wonder if it is a wiring or connector issue
