I have a 2012 QX56 with theater package. The rear speakers do not mute when playing a DVD on the rear displays as My 07 did. It is difficult to hear the audio over the head phones if another audio source is being played by the front occupants. Anyone else have this problem?

Our rear speakers (in a 2012) do not mute. You can always use the audio settings and the fader to push all sound to the front speakers, in effect, muting the rear speakers. Kind of a hassle, but would do what you want it to do.

Thanks, that's what I've done so far. Going to dealer today to see if he knows of a better solution. It may be just a design flaw.

I'd love to know if anyone has a automatic solution for this one, it's always a fight between the move watchers and me when driving..

hmmmm.... I haven't noticed this in the 2011 QX ... I'll have to ask my kids if this is an issue... it might be as I kinda remember fading the audio to the front speakers when the kids were watching a movie and I was listening to music.

I visited with various people at the dealer today and the salesmen/women just could not believe that there was not a setting to automatically mute the speakers. Finally the technician confirmed the only way way was to go to the audio settings and fade the speaker output to the front. He said the new QX56 was totally designed in Japan and had by far the most complicated systems of any Infiniti vehicle. "It is done the Japanese way".
