Have any of you made any lighting or other modification to help the rear camera during night usage? My rear camera seems to be less than useful in low light situations at night, and the side cameras are not helpful either. I've seen people add white leds below their bumper on trucks, but has anyone made any adjustments on the QX?

helpful to know what year you are talking about.

leds may help if they throw the light AWAY from the camera sensor and in a FLOOD position. the sensor has auto iris so if the light is shining really close to the sensors it will stop down the aperture and give you even less looking room.

It is a 2013. It looks great in the daytime, but is very dark at night. Changing the reverse lights may help.

I have found what I personally think is the brightest reverse led we can put in our QX. But it does not really improve much about viewing at night.

But stand behind the truck and it is super bright!!!

Contact me if interested in it. I can PM you my number and show you pictures.

Looking at this picture below, the led on the left is different from the led on the right. I had the left one as the brightest on my QX until I found the one on the right and bought it. Wow! It is bright and white. You need to see it to appreciate it. I took these pictures to compare them, but you cannot see much of the difference, but the one (looking at your computer screen) on your right is the brightest led I can find so far for our QX. Very bright, pics don't do it justice.

This picture was taken at an angle to show the white light. It did not do the lights justice. See it person and you would be impressed. I think it is the brightest led for our reverse you can currently find.

I think the issue is less about the reverse lights and either I have a camera that is partially defective (at night) or the placement of the reverse lights is of no use to the camera. Again, in the daytime, it looks perfectly fine. I'll try to attach a picture of how it looks at night. I've messed with brightness, etc. but I don't believe that affects the camera at all.

Sorry, the pic came up sideways. What you should be able to see in the monitor is that my driveway is 10-15 feet away. I wonder if covering up the license plate lights may have an effect. I'll give that a shot this evening.
