Rear Air Conditioner Issue - 2006 QX56 2WD

My 2006 QX56 rear air conditioner no longer allows rear control. When I put the front control to the "R" position and attempt to control from the rear, I hear about 5 clicks in the rear AC compartment area after a 10 second delay. It sounds like a relay clicking at 1 second intervals. During this sequence, the fan in the back does not operate. The rear fan will activate if the rear AC is under control from the front. I appreciate any insight.
