what detectors are you guys using???

I need the VG2, as I drive into DC and VA lots, where the detectors are "illegal"...shhhhhhhhhhhuuuussshhhhh

I have a higher end escort passport, dash mounted (here in IL). I don't like the fact I've not figured out a way to hard wire it...

Yea, I have the hard wire kit, just haven't figured out a way to run the power in the QX. Normally I mount just below the mirror and run down the A pillar. I tried unbolting the A pillar cover and couldn't get it to come off..

I installed the K40 on my 2011 QX and really like it. Probably overkill basedon the cost but nice to have. Totally integrated. I also got the laser defuser. Like I said, not the most practical decision I ever made, another toy more than anything else.

Anyone having an issue with their detectors and the Blind Side Warning feature? I'm getting a lot of false K-Band positives on my older Escort and am wondering if it's the BSW that's tripping it. My understanding is that it uses K-Band.

Never had an issue with the detector on my '09 QX.

those options weren't avail on the 09 were they?

you can turn those features off, so have you done that?

since the car has a radar in front, its quite possible the radar is being seen by your detector.

You're right, the '09 didn't have that feature and I only mentioned it as a comment that the detector itself wasn't prone to "false" alerting prior to my '11 purchase. Sorry for the confusion.

I don't believe or didn't know that the '11 has radar in the front. I thought the DCA was laser based from the front.

Turning it off did seem to reduce some of the falses, but unfortunately you can't selectively turn off just the BSW. It's an all or nothing switch. The only thing that I've found disappointing with the car, btw. I wish, for example, that I could turn off the Lane Departure Warning, because I find it annoying. You can turn off the Lane Departure Prevention, but not the Warning w/o disabling everything else.

Anyway was just wondering if anyone knows of a different detector that might work better with the BSW.

there is a settings menu page that you can deactivate any or all of those features. are you familiar with this page?

i do not use radar detectors so i apologise im not of much help there.

I think so. I've been through all the settings and the manual, though admittedly I may have missed it. (Actually borrowed the manual from the Dealer and read through it before committing to the purchase...as I wanted to learn more about the Tech Package options ).

The only settings for the Lane alarm, for example, that I have on my '11 is to turn off the Lane Departure Prevention. It does not allow me to toggle the Lane Departure Warning...in fact, there is no setting for it at all.

Is there another way?

perhaps i may be missing your question and if so i apologize.

this is the screen i am referring to. also under the dash there is a brake assist disable button (just FYI--i found this out by accident whilst installing my DVD mod).

i've a 2012 however not sure if that makes any difference with these features...

I now understand our disconnect.

I do NOT have those screens in the 2011 Looks like it's a 2012 upgrade.

Next time I'm at the dealer, I'll ask if I can get a firmware upgrade, but am not counting on my success at this request.
