We currently own a 2009 QX56 that is 4x2, but we will be needing a 4x4 when we move this winter. We would like to upgrade to the 2011 QX if we are re-buying because it's what we want and we would like to keep it for the long-term (vs. trading in a few years because we wish we'd gone with the newer body style). We could swing that $50K+ that they're listing for in our area if we reeeeally wanted to, but we'd rather not. I'm willing to wait for a good deal and have been able to find great deals on my vehicles in the past. Problem is, we have very few 4x4's in our area and most are either low miles/high $$ or high miles/low $$. The high mileage ones are within what we're willing to pay and the low mileage ones are not (>$50k listing).

We did have a friend-of-a-friend who works for a dealership offer to check out the bi-weekly auctions for us. He said if he could find what we are looking for, he'd sell it at cost + $1k. We are not picky about color. Has anyone had experience with that sort of deal? How big of a "discount" are we looking at? Does the following sound possible going that route?

2011 QX56
4x4
Theater package
<50k miles
$40-45k

If we can't work it out through the auction, our options would be 2010 with low miles or 2011 with high miles. Would you buy a high-mileage QX? What if it was outside of manufacturer warranty? What choice would you make?

Sorry, lots of questions!! :)

I would be surprised if you obtained a 2011 with less than 50k miles for $40-45k. I think you could find a 2010 with around 50k miles for around $35k.

SteanBean, where are you located? I just put my 2011 QX up for sale on Craigslist. It has all the packages and 4WD. It's close to your price range and pricing parameters. I'm getting a company car with a gas card next month and it doesn't make sense for me to keep this. Take a look at the link to the ad and let me know if you have any questions. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/4194067530.html

Steenbean, I'm getting a company car with gas card next month so I decided to sell my QX. I just tired to post a link to my Craigslist ad but it says it needs moderator approval for a weblink? Anyway, I'm in Northern California. The QX has 54k miles and I'm asking $46,999 obo. Let me know if your interested. Thanks, Mike

2011 Infiniti QX56 AWD/4WD low and high gears with rare combination of all packages offered by Infiniti on a QX56. Liquid Platinum exterior and Graphite Leather / Mocha Burl trim interior.

Still under full Infiniti warranty until 60k miles and power train and transmission until 70k miles.

I can't stress how important Hydraulic Body Motion Control is. Not all QX's have this feature as it is part of the optional deluxe touring package. It turns this SUV into a 400 horse power beast that handles corners like a sports car.

If shopping for another QX56 and comparing prices check to see if it includes the DELUXE TOURING PACKAGE, TECHNOLOGY PACKAGE & the TIRE AND WHEEL PACKAGE. These three options add several thousand dollars to the cost of the vehicle.

DELUXE TOURING PACKAGE - Hydraulic Body Motion Control, Semi-aniline leather-appointed seating, Climate-controlled front seats, Second-row footwell courtesy lights

TECHNOLOGY PACKAGE - Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Distance Control Assist, Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Blind Spot Interventionâ„¢ (BSI) Systems, Front Seat Pre-Crash Seat Belts, Intelligent Cruise Control (Full-Speed Range) The safety features included in the technology package are incredible.

THEATER PACKAGE - DVD with dual 7 inch monitors in headrests, heated 2nd row seats, remote tip up second row seats, wireless headphones

TIRE AND WHEEL PACKAGE - 22" aluminum alloy wheels & 50 series tires

ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING CONTROL headlights sense when SUV is turning and turns before the vehicle.

AROUND VIEW MONITOR four separate cameras provide a full birds eye view around the vehicle

Navigation, XM radio, iPod control with hideaway.

$500 accessories: Cargo Area Protector, Cargo Net & Infiniti all weather mats.
Also includes a full tow package with tow/haul transmission mode.

14city/20highway - Designed to be one of the most efficient V8 engines on the market. Routinely get 17-18 combined mpg. No other V8 vehicle on the market can produce 400 horse power and over 400 lbs of torque with this fuel economy.

This vehicle is in mint condition and looks like a brand new car.
This is the exact color and options Infinity used at all the car shows when introducing the vehicle.

54k miles.
Routine service work done at Infiniti dealer - they have all records on file.
Car fax is extremely clean, no accidents or issues.

You can find some CPO models fairly loaded in the mid 40's but they will have 55-60k miles. I'm thinking of going that route as I'd like to get a loaded 2011 for $40-$41 and I don't see that happening in the next 6 months for a truck under 45k miles.

Thanks for the heads-up QXman! Unfortunately we have 2 small babies and very little time to travel during our vehicle search. I did find a very similar truck to yours in our area though. It is a 2011 4x4 with 54,500 miles and all 3 packages. Also platinum/graphite! Weird coincidence. Dealership has agreed to $44k and I feel like that is a pretty good value (especially from a speakership). Best of luck selling yours. Should be fast and easy! :)

Steenbeans, if getting from a dealership, do inquire about extended warranty and the copay if any. The QX is not cheap. I do not know of any major issues but as the mile come one, something or the other is going to break -which is normal. Just don't be stuck with expensive repairs on the new to you car when it's just outside factory warranty - just my2c

THANK YOU! We dropped $4200 on a tranny once. Learned that lesson the hard way!!! Extended warranty this time for sure ;)

Be prepared to drop 4 - 6 K on the extended warranty.

I have a 2011 QX56 with 63k miles (all hwy miles).. no major issues, might need tires soon, as they are the original. I do have a 6yr 120k mile warranty on the truck, which is transferable. Was thinking of trading it in, as I no longer need such a large truck with my kids all grown up. It has the tech package and 20inch wheels. It's that Currant/Brown color with tan leather interior. I'm in Maryland. Let me know if you're interested.
