Just left the dealer with my wife expecting to buy a JX - we got sucked into looking at the QX.

Dealer offering $60,312 for AWD with Theatre, Carpet Mats, Cross Rail, Splash Guards and Illuminated door sills. Plus Tax/Tags. Isn't there a $4k dealer incentive right now? My calcs say the "best" offer - $4k for this combo should be about $57k.

Is that a good deal on a 2012 at this point? We test drove the fully loaded and we're not sure if the car will drive differently without the upgraded tires and the package with the body motion control. Any thoughts?

Also, while we liked the idea of cooled front seats, can you really feel them? We're here in Northern Va, so only really useful 5-6 months out of the year.

Anyone put that 3M stuff on the front of the car?

We're trading in a honda mini-van (our kids are now 7 and 9) and we wanted something roomy inside. After driving the QX the JX seemed too small.

Any help appreciated.

I think you should be looking for 8,000 to 10,000 off MSRP. Unless that dealer is short of QX stock. The 2013s should be coming in December.

3m

yeah Man. I have the 3m clear plastic on my 2011QX my older IS-350, and Dodge diesel Ram truck. The 3M product has excellent durability.
I am going to replace it on my 2006 IS-350 next spring after winter. That will be 7 years, it has protected the car very well, but it is showing its age now. It could have been replaced this year, but with work I never had a chance to take it to Charlotte, NC to have it re-done.
It looks good on my black QX after a full year. It takes a beating from bugs, that's for sure.
Have a good one,, Parrot.

Thanks for the feedback!

Can anyone comment on the body motion control and 22' tires and if an average driver that drove a loaded version will really notice the lack of the motion control and 20' oem tires?

My wife and I drove both versions and went with the 22's and body motion control package.

And she loves the cooled seats. For her that was the thing that sealed the deal.

the HBMC and 22 inch wheels are worth it alone. the cooled/heated seats work and are a blessing here in los angeles. the cooling effect will lessen over a period of time but out of the gate when you get into a hot car, thats when is shines.

Count me in the minority. I couldn't feel almost 8k worth of difference between the 20's and 22's and the hbmc. However I was trading in an 08 Tahoe so this was in a different league. My standards I guess were not as high as others. I did opt for the tire protection and interior, exterior protection. I negotiated a great deal for the three and if I have to replace one rim I will have made money on the trade.
The thing that worries me about cooled seats is the vents. As time goes on those tiny perforations are going to evolve into adjoining tears. No way to avoid it. My solution for the hot car is to close the sunroof and try to park either in a shaded area or to where the sun isn't coming in directly at the front seats. My qx is all black. I do think the moving headlights would have been a cool option but again for the money I couldn't justify it. Personal preference.
My wife and I are absolutely in love with our qx. Best vehicle we have had to date. Hands down. So many user friendly amenities. Vehicle is well designed and thought out. We have around 12k on ours. Had it since April. For the first time ever since I grew up I actually enjoy riding in the back seat if we have a third person with us. I'm 6'3 and I always have had issues with backseats and lack of legroom. There is a ton of space for legroom in the qx. That was the first thing I noticed when we did our test drives. I was sold from that point on. The combination of hp and smooth shifting sure makes it fun to drive in traffic. The thing will haul...
Congrats on your purchase if you buy and welcome to the family!!

Another dealer quoting $58,800 for the same config. S

I will say I have both a QX and JX. Both have their pro/con. It really depends on the size and purpose of the vehicle. The JX gets MUCH better gas mileage than the QX, but the QX is big and can tow as much as a 1/2 ton truck. They aren't discounting the JX much at all right now, we got fully loaded and they knocked off a couple thousand from list.

Thanks Mike! the MPG says 14 city on the QX and 18 on the JX - is that what you typically average?

We don't 'tow' anything. It's a waste, but my better half doesn't want to drive a minivan anymore - even though it's the more practical option.

I drive a 2004 MDX and it works for the family so we think the JX will be ok - although I will admit to liking the QX for visibility and cabin space.

I looked at the JX (it has less than 1 tank of gas) and we're getting 16mpg. I assume that will go up with a better average and a little break-in period.

As for the QX, I drive it, and I get around 12mpg in city, I also don't baby the starts, and like to hear the engine so I'm sure I could do a little better there.. It's well broken in and has around 24K miles on it.

As for another pro/con, the back row in the QX is huge, I've had 2 adults back there without complaint, waiting for the seats to stand up is slow, but it's roomy once it's done. The JX is tight in the back, I personally wouldn't want to ride in the back for more than across town. My 10yr old daughter likes it, and has no complaints. Getting into the back of the JX is really faster than the QX in my opinion.

We just today bought our 2012 QX with theatre and wheel packages in black. can't wait to see it in the daylight tomorrow!
