We traded our 2008 Tahoe Z71 in on it. Black on black. Theater package. Bumper protector, cargo net, first aid kit, illuminated door sills. Added the tire and wheel protection, exterior and interior protection and the diamond fusion sealant for the windshield. Also added the all weather floor mats, auto start programming for oem fobs and tint for the front door windows to match the rear door windows. I didn't bite on the extended warranty because I will most likely surpass 100k before most reach the 60k mark.
The crazy thing? All of the add ons I got for less than half at another Infiniti dealer than the best negotiated price from the dealer who I purchased the vehicle from. Shop around and don't be afraid to ask questions.
Hopefully it will be ready to go on Friday. My wife was not at all happy about trading in her Tahoe until we test drove a 2012 Tahoe LTZ on Saturday after spending nearly two hours in the QX. I wanted to see for myself the difference as well. Honest to God the tahoe we traded in with 83k miles on it is in better shape than the new ones.
I'm dealing with some buyer's remorse. Nothing but Chevy's have ever sat in my garage or driveway. However the Tahoe's price keeps getting higher for a vehicle that is 5 + years behind in standard features. My best negotiated price for the Tahoe was $5500 less than the QX. How crazy is that? I feel like Chevy lost me as a customer and unless something staggering happens I'm not going back.
Sticker on mine was 68k. I got it for 60k out the door and they allowed me about 7k more than I was expecting for my Tahoe. I think on the whole I got a pretty good deal.
One thing that is concerning to me that I noticed after test driving it was I could smell what I thought was burned oil off the manifold. I asked the salesman and he told me it was a protectant they sprayed on the engines to prevent rust from the saltwater spray during shipment and would go away after 500-600 miles.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks. No smoke and the smell came from the left front tire. I'm guessing the smell emanated from the opening into the engine area over the drivers side front tire.

Picked up my new qx yesterday. Headed to see jricka today in Ann Arbor for the goodies. Sucks that I will be out of town until Friday so I won't be able to see it until then.
Happy camper so far....

We traded in a 2009 Tahoe LTZ on our 2012 QX. The QX is much nicer, But the fuel mileage is not nearly as good as the Tahoe.

really...??? what kinda of fuel economy were u getting in the Tahoe??? I thought they'd be very similar.

and yes... 16MPG is getting really old with $4+/gallon fuel. That $400-$500/month credit card bill showing multiple gas fillups is getting very heavy concerning... I'm looking at nearly $6k for fuel this year!! That's insane. BUT... love the Beast!

wdebo,

brand new engine and MPG will suffer. you should see better MPG once you get into the 2000's. give it time to break in... it wont be 40 MPG :p but it will get a little better...

also dont let the petrol gauge fool you. its very conservative with the capacity. there is a thread on this.

also there is a recall on the fuel rail under the hood. call your dealer and give them your VIN to determine if your car is affected.

Quick question: are you running premium fuel? I've read running 87 will reduce fuel economy by 3-4 mpg. I haven't even had a tank through mine yet. However I should hit 2k quickly.

What kind of mpg were you getting in the Tahoe? We got 15-16 out of the one we traded. That was mostly city driving on freeways that were crowded.

Great info to know. I'll contact the dealer to verify.

My Qx has 4000 miles and gets 15MPG. My tahoe would get 19.

Did your Tahoe always get 19? Reason I ask is that the 2008 Tahoe we traded in never got better than 16 and it had 83k on it. Granted that was mostly city driving. My first tank through the qx was just over 13 and it was totally city driving with me breaking it in. I also was caught in traffic for over an hour and a half yesterday on that tank fwiw.
What engine did you have in the Tahoe and did you make any modifications to get the 19mpg? Was it a 4x4? Just curious as ours never got near that.
I'm trying to have realistic expectations for the qx. My friend has a 2011 and he says he's getting 19 mpg on it with around 40k. Unfortunately most all of the people I talk to can get better fuel mileage per gallon than I can even when comparing apples to apples....

19MPG for the Q is REALLY pushing it. they must be driving 40 MPH on the road.

16-17 but 19? they must have the 20 inch wheels and not the 22s. this suv is nearly 7K pounds.

this car is not designed for gas mileage, although the 7 speeds really help out on stretches.

i picked up my 12 AWD with 22s back in September when the 12s were avail. i now have about 7K miles and i do 96% interstate driving (stop and go though with LA traffic) and im up to just under 15MPG and thats doing 60-63MPH on the interstate.

I am really not to worried about the fuel mileage. I have never owned fuel efficient vehicles. The salesman stated most people get around 17-18. The Escalade I almost bought would have got the same mileage so its no big deal.
The only thing I don't like is no remote start. And the feel of the brake pedal. Also I don't know if the deluxe touring is worth the money or not.

do you have the touring package? if so, what are your thoughts on it?

yes i did not purchase this car for the MPG, however that high a number is a lofty goal to reach in this vehicle.

remote start can be added, however i get your point. :)

explain about the brake pedal?

ive got every trim option avail for this car and the touring is highly recommended from me :D

I am curious was the $60K price for a 4WD or 2WD? I am getting quoted $61K for 4WD with Theater package but nothing else...

What I just paid...

I just negotiated 59,800 (inc $950 destination fee) on a Platinum Graphite 4WD with Theater Package, roof cross rails, and rear bumper protector. However, other dealers wouldn't go under $61k so I think I negotiated a good price. Maybe Platinum Graphite is not a top color for them, but it was my first choice????

This is a great deal, best price for similar in White is at $61,500.

Mine is 4wd and every option besides technology. I test drove one with the tech package and it just annoyed me.
The brake pedal is not firm, its spongy.
I think sticker price on ours was around 70,000.

I'm getting closer to the 15 mpg. Already just above 14 mpg with around 550 on the odometer. I'm hoping I can get closer to the 20. Time will tell. I am going to add the aftermarket air filter. Still considering muffler upgrade but I am concerned about drone and noise vs. mpg increase.
