Hi Guys,

I am looking at a 2012 white/tan in SoCal with the DX Touring package, the dealer offered me $8K off, I guess the pressure is really on to clear out the stock before the 2013's come in.

Please let me know if you all think this is a good deal, I know there is $4K dealer cash from the factory on 2012's, so is a $4K discount from the dealer a good deal or do you think I can do better?

Cheers,

DesiOC

Like you I am waiting for a good deal. According to cars.com there are over 3000 2012 Q56 in the United States in my area there hundreds in a 50 mile radius. From what I have found people are getting at least 9k off.

I'm looking at a car price at 68k and my first offer was 8.5k off. I hoping for another 1k off.

The dealer offered $8K off immediately, without me even starting to bargain, I would think $10K off is quiet possible. From what they told me the 2013's are already in the US ports and are waiting for dealer inventory to reduce so that can start deliveries.

Yes, 8K off is the current starting point. Try for 10K off. I've seen some advertised as 9,900 off. Here in Houston a dealer is on the radio with ads saying 8,000 off certain stock.

I would offer the invoice cost of the particular equipped QX you want and then if INFINITI is giving the dealers $4,000 take another $4,000 off the invoice. In other words invoice cost less $4,000. In August INFINITI was giving the dealers $2,000 on 4x4 and $1,000 on 2 wheel drive models. I bought a 2012 4x4, at invoice and got the $2,000 additional off.
You can go online (edmunds.com is one site) and get the MSRP price and the invoice price, also a list of dealer incentives.
Example: QX56 4WD base price- msrp $63,100/invoice $58,389; deluxe touring pkg $4500/$3908; theater pkg $2950/$2562; tire & wheel pkg (22 wheels) $2300/$1997; technology pkg $3000/$2605; rear bumper protector $260/$210; carpeted cargo mat, cargo net, first aid kit $200/$142; illuminated kick plates $395/$330; freight destination (msrp invoice are same) $990/$990........... For this vehicle MSRP $77,695; INVOICE $71,133. This is $6562 from MSRP/sticker price. Then add the $4,000 INFINITI incentive makes it $10,562 off.
This example has nearly all of the available QX options, there are a few other options available, amounting to a couple hundred dollars. So for a dealer to offer a flat $8,000 off on all QX56's is not comparing apples to apples as some cars are equipped differently and should have different pricing.
A lot of dealers will add on a lot of what I call fluff; nitrogen air in tires, window tint, interior protection, to name a few. I would not want or pay for any of the fluff.
Long winded, I will get off my soap box now. MACTRONIXX step up and agree with me :) ;)

Thanks for the info guys, I think I can get at least $10K off, they have a DX touring for about $73K sticker with the rear bumper, illuminated Kick plates, freight, cargo mats, first aid kit. So I would think getting the car for about $63K would be job well done?

those trinkets (kick plates, first aid, etc) should not make a big difference in price. the main points are the packages you want on the car. they can throw those things on as they are not that expensive.

ATC you made a good post there bro!

Did you do a little research homework to see what the invoice is on that particular vehicle? Edmunds.com is one of several websites you can check. It will not take much longer than it takes to make a post on this site. Find out the invoice $ amount and take off the additional INFINITI $4,000 for the dealer, if it is LESS than $10,000 then the "one size discount for ALL vehicles" is a better deal.
I would bet the invoice is considerably more than $6,000 off the MSRP and with the additional $4,000 will put the discount well over $10,000. All it takes is a little research work to prepare yourself to negotiate with the dealer.
One more tip: do not let a salesman snag you and try to make the sale, call the new vehicle sales manager, let him know you have done some research and are seriously ready to make the purchase now. Tell him you will buy a QX56 either from him or another INFINITI dealer. Have the vehicle (or vehicles) stock number(s) and ask for his best price. From that point you will know if it is close to your research price. If it more than the invoice and $4,000 INFINITI money tell him/her you will pay $xxx (the invoice and $4,000 INFINITI). Make sure you know exactly what the $$$ figure is. If you are serious, sincere, and ready to buy now you will get the deal you want.
Good luck!

I loaded the car up on Edmunds and got the following numbers:

Dealer Invoice $71,390
MSRP $78,020
True Market $70,283

So from what you are saying I should be getting $71,390 (Dealer Invoice) - $4000 (Infiniti Discount) for a $67,390 purchase price; which is $10,630 off. I should be able to do this with a little proper pressure.

Wish me luck guys, I am planning to buy in a week or so.

I think you stand a very good chance on getting the 10,630k off. A dealer in Chicago has advertised 9k off any QX56, and that is just for the cars that have theater package (apprx 68K). Good luck with your negotiation.

radio ad in Houston now says 9,000 off MSRP for QX56s.

Seem to be getting a max of $10K off so far.

Are you working directly with the new vehicle sales manager? Have you checked other INFINITI dealers? My opinion if you tell the sales manager you are ready to buy NOW and this is my firm price to pay $67,390 ($10,630 off MSRP) he/she should be willing to make the deal in order to keep stock moving. Again my opinion, it is key to let the sales manager know you are sincere (not kicking tires, thinking about it, planning to buy later maybe) but want to make the deal today and this is what I'm offering to help you have one less QX in your inventory. If I really wanted that particular vehicle and the sales manager would not budge and LETS you walk away, I would be courteous, thank them for their time and walk away; then call back later in the day or next day and offer $200 more or split the difference ($315 more), but only after all else fails and he/she is letting you walk away.
No dealer is hurting if they sell a vehicle for invoice (and the $4,000 INFINITI money), they have sold many, many vehicles well above invoice. There are a lot of 2012 QX's out there and need to be sold ASAP.
Good luck, happy hunting! Post how it goes.
