Anyone knows, what it is for? I can't find any clear information on it. Lock position sensor, related to 4WD. Lay terms please.

are you having issues with your 4wd system? what is your car doing or not doing? these codes are generic in nature and give you an overall basic idea of a potential issue. what symptoms are you having? stalling? misfire?
the TCM that governs the state of the gear receives voltage ratings from each gear. it the TCM is expecting a certain gear to be engaged, there should be a certain voltage related to that specific gear. if its out of range or not as expected, the tcm will alert the ECM and display a CEL.

i see you are also asking this on the CA site so i dont want to overload you with duplicated information, so ill just leave it at that. be sure you are reading them properly and also be explicit in what your car is or is not doing as that will help those over the internet understand what you are going through. we only know what you tell us and nothing more.

It never hurts to ask at severla sites. Some respond faster, some take longer. Been in forums for many years, I know, how it works.
Also, it is better to have a dedicated thread per issue, otherwise, if things are bundled, it becomes rather challenging to track rersponses.
But anyhow.
It's P1 82B 53. Far I know, it is transmission related and 53 points at exact problem. I use Foxwell scanner with just installed Nissan s/w, so it scans more or less well.
As of how trannie behaves. Drives VERY SMOOTH. VERY. But, I finally fooled with mode shifter and, when I engage 4WD, it seems to be engaged - I didn't skid on muddy grass of my wetland - but IBA Off orange light comes up. That I do not know, if it supposed to or not. Intelligent Brake Assist? This rig has so many electronic things, and I am totally new to Nissans.
I am not driving it, sort of scared, as it has a bunch of CAN BUS codes too. Just slowly working my ways through initial diagnostics.
It is weird, how there is very little info on Nissans online. Should it have been Toyota or Honda or Chevy.....
Thank you
