Hey everyone -

I am pretty new to this site and wanted to reach out and to get some thoughts, information and so forth. Right now, I currently drive a 2014 Ford F150 Platinum, love the truck but do miss having a cargo area for the dogs, golf clubs and just long road trips.

I have been looking at a 2013 QX56 used...trying to stay under $50K for price.

Any thoughts or experiences anyone cares to share?

well, you came to a pro qx forum so expect some bias :)

what in particular do you want to know? what areas of the car are you specifically interested in learning more about from actual owners/users?

I am a long time fan of nissan and have had 3 suvs from nissan/infiniti. ive a 12 qx with all options and i've had zero issues with anything on this car.

as with any used vehicle, i urge you to check any carfax reports and read up on any maintenance logs. high mileage is dependant on if the car was a rental car or used for weekend getaways and garaged during the week.

a main point of conversation of late is the oil jets and timing chain in some early models.

that said, ive not had any issues and this car is a reliable and sound vehicle. most people don't post up how happy they are and you usually see posts of people seeking to find help, so kindly keep that in mind.

the qx is a fun car. luxurious and sporty all at the the same time. it will run like a scalded cat if you let it.... :D

I am really interested in the ride comfort, maintenance, plenty of room/cargo how it does in the snow, or heavy rain as well as towing.What packages do you like, what are over kill, wheel size...

So far it's just my wife and I and our 2 dogs(boxer and French Bulldog) but we plan on having kids an well, as you can imagine we all can't fit into a truck.

That being said, I did just get my wife a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum, get vehicle and love the almond interior. Just not a fan of the Armada, I feel as if it's outdated but that's just my opinion. While the Pathfinder has great amount of room, we would like to still have one bigger for longer trips and such.

By the way, if looking used what kind of milage should I stay around or under I should say? :D
 
well all those points you are questioning, the new q handles them with ease. the truck is designed for comfort, stability... you name it.

if you dont care for the theater package, skip it, but the touring package (with the 22 inch wheels) and other packages are worth the extra coin.

ive a 12 model with all the bells and whistles.

you simply must drive one (if you have not already). it feels nothing like the pathfinder nor does it feel like the armada. these models (2011+) are made in japan on a different line than the armada, titan.

the armada is boss with its unique body style. we will have to disagree on that :D. one of the main reasons i wanted an armada back in the day was because of the different body style--its so unique, just as the qx.

by the by, its just me--no wife no children, no pets. the q is my daily driver and it is an absolute beast.

The QX is an awesome truck... great ride, good looks, unique styling (grows on you quickly), you can find it quick in a parking lot amongst all the minivans, Fords and tiny coupes. It's very thirsty (even in hwy driving), oil change every 3k , can be a bit expensive to maintain (get an extended warranty) ... will haul all your stuff/dogs/junk with ease, but you might be scared to tarnish the very nice interior. Wifey can give you a hummer without her worrying about the people in the next car seeing her doing anything. :P not that I would know.
 
Hi Everyone! Newbie here checking in. I've been lurking and reading the boards for a while now.

I picked up a new to me QX56 about 2 months ago and thought it was high time to check in. I pulled the trigger on a '13 QX56 with just under 50K on the clock. We also own an FX35 so I guess now we are a loyal Infiniti family:)

I made the move from a Chevy Silverado with diesel engine. I had been looking carefully for just the right SUV for well over a year. I loved the truck, but no longer needed the huge towing power it offered and was looking to trade some of the power and towing ability for creature comforts, while still retaining a decent towing ability.

I think I researched and drove every large SUV out there. I was set on needing over 5K of towing capacity, third row seating with second row buckets and some sort of fair to moderate cargo space behind the third row seat. While most every manufacturer had something that met most of those needs, usually it came as their most loaded and often custom configuration. This meant there was virtually no way I was going to find this in the used market. Luck for me Infiniti considers this configuration their 'base' model :)

I've put about 2K miles on my QX and love the way it rides and drives. I can actually get into a parking spot in a tight lot!

I was hesitant to use this 'truck'(I still shake my head a bit when I see that term on this board) :) for towing, but was kind surprised by the amount towing power in this vehicle.

Hello! Total Infiniti newbie here. Just traded in my '07 Escalade ESV Diamond White on Ebony with 123k miles for the 2012 QX56 7 seat AWD with 54k miles. Platinum Graphite on Graphite with the Touring w/Wheels, Tech, and Theater pkgs and other line items (roof rails, stainless bumper protector, cargo/1st aid). Really, really like it so far... (less than 200 miles). :)
 
A couple of Questions and Advise on 2011 QX56.

Good day guys...
Just need an opinion on a few things.Any of guys done or agree on rust proofing ? It looks like I'm going to be keeping the QX for a while and I'm looking at rusting proofing and underbody spray.
A few of my colleagues have told me at times rust proofing makes things worse since they drill holes at some points of the vehicle and once you stop the rust proofing,rust will start or develop at a quick pace ,how and why I'm not sure.If any of you guys have experienced rust proofing/underbody spray on your QX or for that matter any other vehicle you've owned,I will appreciate any feedbacks.

Also,when I got my QX back from the dealer after the timing chain recall,it doesn't drive as smooth as before.I could feel more throttle response noise on the gas pedal,it's a slight vibration and when I hit the gas for example getting on the freeway,there's more drone than before.I know for a fact this wasn't the situation before but I don't want to take it back to the same dealer,since they seem to be good at making things worse than before.
I want you guys opinion first before taking it to a different dealer.

take the car back to the dealer who did the recall work. reason is they know what they took apart (the tech does rather) and they know what parts to look out for.

take the tech who worked on your car for a test drive. shit in manual land stay in the rpms a bit longer to rev up the engine . this may make the drone sound you describe. plus they will fix it at no cost (they should). going to a new dealer could be worse and possibly more repair time since they will have to troubleshoot work someone else did.

i had the recall done, and i now have a drone sound at a certain RPM under a load (say when going up an entrance ramp on a highway). when the car gets to a certain rpm, this drone sound is heard briefly as the rpm passes through. i have take my car back 3 times and the dealer cant "fix" the issue.

the tech stated it was the fan clutch that was loose and tightened it up. that helped a bit but the sound returned. the tech has to take a lot of things off (there's videos of the work being done on youtube) and its just like taking apart something at home, only to put it back together and realize you have one screw left that you don't know where it goes to! :)

i think i feel /hear this vibration more over by the muffler area. i have been too lazy and have had other things to do and have not been back to have this looked at again. its annoying to me because my car did not have this sound but its more annoying to go up there, be put in a rental and have the car torn down and looked over again as my time is much too valuable for me to go and have this done. i will have it looked at on my next oil change interval when i have to go up there anyway.

sorry this is long and this may not be what you are noticing on your ride, but i thought it worth tht e time to type this to see if you may be hearing the same thing.

i will say i don't have any loss of power or other things. the car is as spiffy as ever.
 
^^^^ Yes,that's exactly the drone I'm talking about and the noise/vibration at the muffler area..lol.
I will take your advise and take it back to the dealer.I'm glad...well not about the issue but some else has noticed the issue.
