Hello. I'm a proud new owner of a 2012 QX, 4WD, white/wheat, fully loaded with tech/theater/touring and wheel packages.

Coming from a GL450, which I had for right at 5 years - an accomplishment, since I usually trade most vehicles after 2-3 years. Loved the GL but wanted to look at something different, especially considering the GL's antiquated tech offering. Choices quickly boiled down to the QX or waiting for the new GL, which supposedly will have a much improved tech package and interior.

A test drive of the QX firmed up my choice. What a vehicle! Really an incredible thing to drive and the technology and interior are outstanding. I think my wife's favorite feature is the weather map :D

I found this forum while researching and was happy to see relatively few major issues compared to most other luxury SUVs. I do have one real issue, which is a vibration in the gas pedal at mid-high RPMs. I'm glad to see that others have experienced the same thing. It's not a critical issue but certainly not something I would expect from a vehicle of this caliber.

There are a few things I do miss from the GL. Some of these may be configurable, but I haven't been able to find the information in the owners manual.

1. I don't like having to push the button on the handle to unlock the vehicle. The GL (and my BMW 535) just uses proximity to pull the handle and unlocks, plus I could configure it to unlock all doors at once vs having to push the button twice to unlock all the doors. VERY minor annoyance.

2. The GPS is light years beyond what was in my GL, but I hate that several options are disabled when the vehicle is in motion. I understand the logic of keeping driver distractions to a minimum, but it is very irritating to have to stop to use the full functionality.

3. Another very small thing is that the radio shuts off immediately when the engine is shut off. My last three vehicles all leave the radio on until the door is opened. I often want to finish listening to something and don't like keeping the vehicle running. I know I can simply turn the engine off and press the button again to put it back in ACC mode, but it's just a convenience thing that I have found very useful in other vehicles. I thought this might be something configurable but I can't find anything on it. Anyone know?

4. The front sensors don't work unless the camera is on, I think. I really find front sensors useful for pulling into a parking space or the garage. I shouldn't have to push the camera button for them to work. I understand there is a tradeoff for things like sitting in traffic or a drive-thru, but it's a minor inconvenience. The GL had a button where you could turn the sensor off, so it was on by default and I liked that. Again, small thing.

So, as you can see, with the exception of the pedal issue, everything is extremely minor. That's a rarity with me, ha ha! I just love this vehicle. It's my wife's daily driver, so I'm sad I only get to drive it on the weekends. Another reason to look forward to Friday! :)

I know you can unlock all doors with a single push of the button. I did it, but don't remember off the top of my head how.

Not much help, but I know it's in the owners manual.

Thank you! I just need to find it. With all these electronic features, it is difficult to find the one paragraph in a 400-page manual. I will look again. Glad to know it should work.

1. Unlock all doors at once

- On your Nav screen... Settings - Others - Comfort - Selective Door Unlock.

2. I hate that several options are disabled when the vehicle is in motion.

- There is an override module from Prestigious Society that allows all Nav functions to work while the vehicle is in motion.

3. Radio shuts off immediately

- I thought there was a way to fix this, but I may have been thinking of my other car.

4. The front sensors don't work unless the camera is on

- This is also an annoyance for me. Hopefully Infiniti will fix it. There really should be a setting for automatic parking sensors/cameras.

Excellent! I can't thank you enough. Appreciate the help and good to know I'm not the only one annoyed by the sensors.

If you dont mind me asking how much did you pay ? I'm curious as you're the only other person i've seen that managed to purchase a white/wheat fully loaded. Mine was a pain in the @ss to find

Hi. Sorry for taking so long to answer. I don't have the exact number right now but will get it. I had VPP minus a $500 rebate of some sort. It wasn't the best deal in the world but I was pleased with it. I got it in Tulsa and they had three white/wheat loaded, although I think one was being driven by a manager.

I will add that their non-VPP price was right at invoice if I recall. The other dealer I worked with didn't have a white/wheat but said they could get one. Their best non-VPP quote to me was 73,000 on a different color they had in stock. That's a huge difference between two dealers on the first price quote.

IronScott, I noticed you bought your QX in Tulsa, I live in OKC and have a few comments. You must have bought your QX from Jackie Cooper, a great dealership IMO. I'm sure you got a good price. Was the other dealer you worked with Bob Moore INFINITI in OKC? Hard to believe only 2 Infiniti dealers in Oklahoma.
My wife bought her QX (4x4/Black/graphite no tech or touring pkg but all the other options) August 28 from Bob Moore Infiniti and we were also working with Jackie Cooper in Tulsa, Greg was the internet guy we were in contact with. Greg's first couple of price quotes were OK but he eventually got down to within $150 of invoice & had a good inventory. But working directly with the general manager at Bob Moore Infiniti we got invoice and then an additional $2,000 off. (Infiniti incentive $2,000 on 4WD, $1,000 2WD). I don't think the $2,000 or $1,000 incentives were well known publicly. At least nobody on here has mentioned it with their purchase price. After the final dollar amount was agreed on I asked the general manager if he was interested in my wife's 2010 Toyota 4runner, he personally drove it and checked it out and offered a great price, $2,000 more than I expected. And since we live in OKC that made it even easier. The whole deal only took a little over 1 hour including test driving 2 QX's. A very pleasant experience.

BTW I bought a couple of QX accessories online from Grubbs Infiniti in Euless Texas (best prices I could find searching from Kansas City to Houston). We had a trip planned to Dallas so saved the shipping cost by picking up the parts in person. That dealership must have had 50 QX's in stock! I wonder what kind of deals they were making?

Hi ATC. Yes, Cooper was where I bought. They were awesome to deal with. The other dealer I dealt with was in Springfield, MO. I live in NW Arkansas, so Tulsa and Springfield are virtually the same distance from me.

I dealt with Greg at first and then when I found out I had VPP he moved me over to the GM. Invoice on my QX was $71,390. I paid $70,339 including their doc fee. This did not include taxes, of course. I just missed a $2,000 incentive like you mentioned. It was not advertised but ended in August, so they told me. Looks like you did excellent on yours!

I lived in Dallas from 2000-2006. I was always amazed at how much inventory some of those dealers stocked. That's good to know about the parts. We visit Dallas at least a couple times a year, so I will have to plan accordingly.

I have infiniti business associates vpp which basically is at invoice. I did not know that below invoice deals could be had. How does one find these special incentives out?
I have a 2013 on order. Do you folks think that they will tango below invoice for it? The dealership is crest infinity in Plano.

I believe that's the same VPP I have. As I understand it (may be wrong) VPP will have special incentives, like bonus cash, which I believe is how I got mine under invoice. Also, I'm sure this varies by dealer, but my dealer had something called closing certificates that got an additional $500 off for me. http://insidenissan.com/monthly_military_infiniti.html shows $1,000 bonus cash for the 2012 QX.

Yep, about the same price i paid...like $ 40 cheaper maybe. I didnt use the vpp program I just pitted them against another dealer who was massively discounting. Imho these cars are a real bargain for what you get. Especially when you get the interior upgrade package

Lift Gate Height

Just purchased 2012 QX56 on Sunday for my wife. Still getting to know the vehicle, but one important question has already been raised. Can you adjust how high the lift gate opens (rear hatch)? Right now, it appears that it will hit my garage door. Backing in seems like a silly solution. I can adjust the lift gate height in the settings on my 11 X5. I rather risk bumping my head than destroying the paint on the lift gate. Any help would be appreciated.

Coming from an ML, I am with you on all counts. It is so much more luxurious of a ride but there are a couple things I would change. I just ordered the Prestigious Society Module to address the lockout. That is getting to be a problem with even the German cars these days though.

I wish the locks also unlocked when you pull the handle, but the family is getting trained to flip the switch first.

I hate that the radio turns off when the engine stops. There are many times when I am waiting for someone and don't want to keep running the engine, but turning off the ignition and back on when an Iphone is playing music can create other problems.

I just noticed the gas pedal after reading the forum, but honestly it doesn't bother me.

Things that do bother me:
On the highway if I hit a pothole or expansion joint, the steering wheel shakes. I would expect this thing to plow through and not be phased by that. (i have 20 inch wheels btw)

Second is I hear the engine knocking when under light load going up a hill. This is not the normal DFI clatter but sounds like a timing/knock issue. I have taken in for service but nothing registers on the diagnostics. puzzling...

Overall though a very nice spacious limo for the family.

Can we get back to the original questions?
3. Is there any way to keep the radio on when you turn off the ignition?

Also, I am trying to see if there is a way to unlock the doors when you shift into park. Not a real fan of the turn off the ignition approach.

Yeah, Cassiri, I have noticed this on some rough transitions from bridge to roadway on certain bridges running on the interstate in NC and VA.
I think this could be caused by using a Rack and pinion steering, where there is no steering damper on it. 20 inch and 22 inch tires are heavy for a rack and pinion, in my opinion, so the tire may want to follow the road.

Or: Possibly a wheel-tire that is close to being out of balance, so the bump may cause the tire to bounce just enough for you to notice in the steering wheel. That rack is sensitive with feedback to the driver.
I have been adjusting air pressure to see how it affects this. Right now 37psi on each tire the front is pretty good, and I also have 20 inch wheels.
Let us know what PSI you are running on the front tires. Be careful with those potholes and bumps, these things do not come with 10 ply truck tires. Avoid if you can.:)
Have a good one

NO. this function is controlled by the BCM and its designed to turn off once the ignition is switched off.

No way to do this from the factory setup. maybe look at 3rd party security products.

I just recently bumped up my pressure to 40. That is what they had it at when I bought the vehicle. It seemed high but for some reason it actually seems better with higher pressure. Not sure that makes sense to me. Side benefit is my mileage is much better, but that's another topic.
