Well, just had a new garage door opener installed and now I find out the new Liftmaster security features make it non compatible with the OEM homelink systems and car2u systems in many vehicles. Basically my QX and my 2007 Tahoe won't work with this opener and now they need repeaters x2 at $40 a pop. I'd rather put the opener in the car than give them any more money.

That's' Bull$hit!!! I was about to install new Liftmasters for my home. I wonder if Infiniti has a software update for that. Don't know why this would be an issue on a newer car with supposed all new technology; apparently Liftmasters programming update was since 2011.

I realize technology moves fist, but these companies should communicate with one another to insure that Tech hardware/software update are incorporated into the finished product line within a year.

Well, and I was wondering whether I was a dunce the first time I tried to get the OEM homelink to work my Liftmaster garage door. I was wondering whether my OEM unit in the car was malfunctioning as I had gotten our other cars of different brands to work without any issues. The other cars are actually older than the QX (2010 and 2011 and now gone 2008 and 2009 cars). It is kind of surprising that the newest car of the bunch is the one that would not work...The liftmaster is I believe 4 years old.
Punisher, how do the repeaters help remedy the issue? I just gave up and kept the Liftmaster opener in the QX as this is the only car with the issue in my home

call liftmaster customer service 800.528.5880. They will send you a "free" receiver with $7 shipping. They told me that the same unit will work on two different doors and as many vehicles as I would like. This unit will let me use the built-in openers in the QX and my older Lexus.

Thanks Goblue, will do that

tell them you have a QX and they will check to see that the vehicle qualifies for a free responder.

IMO as the years have gone by Home link has become less and less of a "Universal" opener. I needed an add-on to make it work with my QX, too. Plus it just plain won't work at all with the gate opener for my property.

The issues of a huge/varied market of gate/garage opener makers, complex security, rapidly advancing/changing technology, and just plain bad luck have me batting around 50% with this Home Link stuff over the years..

Do you mean the repeater they are asking me to buy for $50? No thanks

That's disappointing to hear. I thought this was the one piece of technology everyone agreed on. No Beta vs. VHS or Apple connector vs. microUSB...just a button to link to a garage door. Now we've messed with that too?

I came by this looking for it recently and just wanted to add what a support member told me. After about 10 different people saying I would need a new rear view mirror, this guy told me instead of holding the first and last to clear the codes, hold all three until it blinked rapidly and then went off. Then to check click one and if it was flashing rapidly, all you had to do was hit the learn button on the actual garage, run to your car, press and hold the desired button for two seconds, and then release. Keep doing it until the door opens or closes. The only downside is this workaround only lets you program one garage door.
