2012 QX56 with black leather interior. Door panels with leather also, has a fine matte finish but I'm nervous about cleaning, don't want to use any products on it for fear of disturbing the nice matte finish, e.g. making it shiny or in any way changing its appearance. What's recommended? Haven't asked the dealer yet. Have tried a microfiber clanging cloth moistened with water, works well with dust etc. but nothing else.

Best vehicle I have owned by the way, what a smooth ride and bells and whittles, power, smooth engine and transmission.

mv, i h ave the exact same color and year and i LOVE the matte finish!!!

i use this:

I got the interior quick detailer as recommended - it does work very well, sort of Formula 409 but smells better, no residue, and safe on leather etc., I really like it, thanks for the recommendation! I found it works best when sprayed on a microfiber cloth and then rubbed on the surface.

agree on all points. i TOO use the same cloths.. spray onto the cloth then use on the interior.

smells great and , as you said, no residue.

meguiars has a odor remover spray that is great!

its a long story why i found it in the first place, but since using it back in october when i got the car, it still has the new car smell. this product does wonders.

That was one misgiving I had about the interior detailing product, the possibility that the smell would eliminate the new car smell which of course we all love, but the smell does dissipate without a trace.

But this odor eliminator product, it somehow preserves that new car smell? I wonder how it does that, does it incorporate a synthetic "new car smell" fragrance in it or does it just eliminate all odors but the new car smell remains from the ongoing process, whatever it is, that generates it in a new car?

Aside from this, anyone found a product that truly reproduces that new car smell? I have tried a couple at random in not-new cars and they just smell "odd", nothing like new car smell.

good points MV,

i can tell you that my car smells just as the day i bought it. granted, im the only one who drives this car and i dont roll the windows down and always use HVAC so i keep outside odors out, plus the plasmacluster system is amazing when its on MAX.

i cant answer your questions. all i know is i spray this at night when im done detailing Fatz (thats the name of the car :D) and the next day (or whenever i get in after spraying) the smell of the spray is gone and the car just smells neutral or like it did the day i bought it. man i was sooo freaking happy when i drove this car home back in october.. thats another thread though.. :D
