LED install thread (Exterior/Interior)

... The T-10's work in all interior lights EXCEPT, vanity mirrors and the rear cargo area...

Would you have the bulb-lamp part number or model number for the vanity mirrors and the rear cargo area?

I wanted to thank you for your post, most informative and I do like the change in lighting..much easier to see detail with.

How many total lamps are needed to do the inside and outside of the Q?
Well... You need 8 T-10 led's for the inside and 4 for the outside.

Grillmaster, if you search this forum you can find the size. I dont know offhand... Other than they are " festoon" type. I have not done the mirrors and rear cargo area yet

Could you provide details on how to install the leds for the back plates?

Pics of LED installs/DRL install

Guys, I have had two posts offline asking for pics of the license plate LED install...which i had promised. Just a quick note to say I have photographed the install but it appears to be impossible to post pics anymore . Suddenly, every pic is too large for the Forum format...not sure why all if a sudden... very bummed, I have many installs to post i.e. DRL's install, cleaning the MAF etc... The moderator has been great to offer suggestions...
So...thanks for the interest....it has just become impossible to post even in the most diffused camera setting.

Airlaird, could you send the mod's to my email. i sent you PM...whatever ones you got i would love to have

You could post them to dropbox.
I'd like to see them too. TheT10's I ordered on a slow boat from China....
Should have looked harder at where they were shipping from..LOL

I have no idea what a drop box is sisu.... I have already posted ten pics on this forum since i signed on and suddenly, i cant. Very bizarre. My attemps tell me i have exceeded the size limitation...what i need is more kb space..

Anyone who has done the plate light install can they post instructions, Or is take off cover and carefully pry off clips the way to go?

i have swapped the license plate lamps and the only way to access is through the back door finisher.

the back door finisher has several rivet style plastic clips that keep the finisher in place. you have to carefully PRY the plastic finisher off without damaging the fasteners. once that is done, the license plate lamps are easily accessed.

it was a b%^&# to get the piece off. you just have to be patient.

Thanks as always marctronixx! Was anxious but clips came off easier than i thought. Sound is quite loud as you stated but a pretty easy DIY. Looks awesome!

Where is the location of the 8 T-10 inside?
The 2 map reading lights, 1 by each rear door. The ones under the front footwells and the glovebox are not T-10. The rear cargo light is a festoon style.
I know I'm an idiot, I'm stumped.

Replaced the fogs with HID's. They look great!
A couple of weird issues have arose:
Initially the fogs came on with the headlights. Then the next time they did not. Switching to hi beam and then back to low beam makes them come on.
Earlier this am I went to get a coffee. Flashed the lights to bright so they would come on for the trip to the store. When I cranked up to leave they didnt come on. Got back to the garage. Shut the engine off. Driver's side fog light came on when I shut down the engine. Not the passenger's side. Flash to bright and back and the passenger light came on.
I keep the headlights in auto mode with the fogs on always.
Any ideas?
I'm runnig 35w ballasts in the HID kits. I run 55w ballasts in my truck in both lows and fogs with zero issues.
All from DDM whom I have had great success in getting quality products.

ballasts sound like they are flaky. turn the car ON but not the engine, turn on the fogs and listen to the ballasts/ignitors. if they buzz even slightly, they are flakey and may become unreliable over time.

the headlamp system uses the CANBUS system (a computer network) and there is a certain voltage that is allowed across this network.

the HIDs you are using may also be causing interference issues on the CAN network-- the cables may not be shielded. There are HID kits out there that are shielded for CANBUS systems which i would recommend.

the HIDs i had on the fogs were from vleds. i had no issues with those HIDs. I like the look of LEDs and the cooler temps form LEDs and that is why I swapped out.
