Hello everyone. I have about 9 month left on my 36 month lease and I am considering buying the car if the price is right. I bought my M37x with Premium Package for under 50 grand and the residual is 31 (way too high in my opinion). Does anyone know if the Nissan Financial will ever negotiate on the price. What would be realistic (24-27?). I know I should call the company about 3 month before the lease is over and ask but I am just too curious about my chances and would like to know your opinions. I maintain the car really well, it will have < 39,000 miles (< 45,000 mile allowance). I am also afraid that I will have to replace both brakes and tires soon so the car may have a new set of both at that point. Thanks

lease buy out

I've wondered the same thing. I was never a fan of leasing and the dealer talked me into it this time. I know how I take care of a car, and it will be exceptionally clean, but that means nothing with respect to the 'buyout' number. I specifically asked during the negotiations if you can negotiate the price at the end. Dealer was non-committal. NOt sure they knew and probably didn't care. On one hand, the contract is the contract. You have a choice, yes or no. Once you say no, then the car is their's. The key to me is where can you buy your car back. If the dealer has first option to keep lease returns, which I think that they do, then the key only seems to be cutting a deal with your dealer. Convincing them a quick turn with you is better than putting it on the lot. But if your car is clean, you can see the problem there. They know what they will get for it retail, so you might get a little better deal than the schmuck off the street, but I don't know that it would be a lot better.
If the car goes first back to nissan/infiniti finance, where all dealers can bid on it, then you're probably screwed.
At least this is my take on all of it

I have never had a lease company allow me to negotiate on residual value (buy option) on a car. The buy out price was the buy out price no negotiating, kind of a take it or leave it thing. It's never wise to lease if you end up purchasing the car at the end as it always ends up costing you more. As for them willing to sell it for 24-25k like you hope they might laugh at you because they could get more for it at auction. Anyways good luck!
