Hello everyone,

We just traded our 07 LTZ suburban in on an 08 QX56 4wd. We absolutely love the vehicle in comparison and the Q has more miles than the suburban did. It is in another league for comfort, fit, and finish.

Is it a common problem to have engine noise/vibration in the cabin while at an idle and while accelerating? This vehicle is dead quiet at 85mph inside so it seems strange to hear and feel the motor so much. In the suburban and even in my old f-150 you barely know the motor is running and that is not the case with the infiniti. It is also loud outside the vehicle when at an idle??

Thanks in advance for your help,

Eric

After doing a little searching online i discovered that quite a few of these vehicles had faulty exhaust manifolds that would crack. I am experiencing a droning type sound when accelerating and at an idle. For those that have experience with this problem, did it sound similar to what i have descibed?

if you got less than 60k on the truck, or u purchased a warranty, have the $tealer repair it.

We did not purchase a warranty and it does have over 60K on it. It has 115K on the clock. When i drove it last night i rolled the windows down to listen and it was harder to hear than with the windows up. I don't think it's an exhaust noise after doing that. People have said that it sounds like a loud ticking if it's the manifolds and i don't hear ticking. It just vibrates and is louder than what I think should be normal??

Maybe it's just something I need to get used to. Other than that, I am very impressed with the quality of this vehicle.

I have the same problem, but I love the droning though:) . But I hear something vibrating when the drone kicks in, albeit for about a second or two. Once the droning stops, the vibration (sounds like a loose metal shield or something) goes away immediately. My '08 has 102k and just started doing this just after 100k.

Ours seems to do it from the second you start accelerating till you let off. We had it up on the lift yesterday cause we thought maybe a motor mount was bad but we couldn't find anything wrong. All of the skid plates were secure. We did find that the seal on the transfer case is leaking and the passenger axle boot is cracked and leaking. Funny how a dealership brags about their 112 point inspection!!

I also have a leaking radiator cap. I have read some threads about not getting a replacement with a spring and I have also read that many of the dealer caps are warped. Has anyone used the cap from Stillen? I found them on sale and if they are a good replacement i will just order from them vs driving to the dealership.

I don't mind the droning so much either, it's the boss that keeps asking me why it sounds so loud!
