it can be a faulty camera. there is the camera CCU and the camera itself. the CCU provides the guidelines and the camera provides the image. these are ran by an av control unit.
you certainly can have faulty wiring in addition to a potential faulty camera/ccu unit, but that's something you will need to visually check.
