I am new to this site due to just bought a 2013 QX56. I was going through the owners manual online, and can't seem to find an answer that I have a question for. I have never owned a car with one of these key fobs, and would like to know, if let's say i were carjacked, and they drove away with the car, but left me, and my key fob behind will the car cut off?

you know that's an interesting question.. last year, my family and I were on vacation. I had to stop at the bank to make a quick deposit, my wife decided to go grab lunch, she got into the driver seat and drove off... while in the bank, I realized my key/fob were in my pocket.. confused, I said crap I'm gonna get a call any second that the car stalled. But none came, she drove back 5mins later without an issue. She did say the car said, something like no key, but she never put the car in park, as she was in the drive-thru

So, I don't know the real answer to your question... anyone up for doing an experiment??

Thanks for the response. I am stuck out here in the ocean on a drilling rig, south of Rio. I put a deposit down, and my wife will drive to Dallas from Houston to pick it up. She will test drive it before she signes any paperwork. It only has 4300 miles on it, so it should be fine. I would test question myself but I wont see the new ride until Sep. 12th:mad:...

It will not cut off but if she turns the car off it will not start again without the FOB. It will also give the loud chirps if it is running and the FOB goes out of range to tell you the car no longer has the fob in range. My wife dropped me and my FOB off at the baseball field with my son and took off. She called about 20 minutes later and said she did not have the FOB. I tried figuring out how to get the FOB back to her when she revealed she had not shut the car off. Whew, I told her to drive back and get it ASAP.
