I have a 2001 infiniti i30 with 125000 miles on it. Recently I had a check engine light come on and the code that it shows is a Idle Air Control Valve. Now the car idles extremely high. When in park or neutral it idles around 2500 RPM and in drive just over 1000 RPM. However just idling in drive down the road will take me to about 40 MPH! When the car is warmed up the idle sometimes jumps up and down almost as if im reving it over and over again. So I replaced the IAC valve for $250.00 and it did not fix the problem. I also noticed that the female plug that connects into the IAC valve looks burnt on one of the terminals. So I looked at the old valve and you can see where the plug melted on one of the prongs on the male connector that is attatched to the IAC valve. Im wondering if maybe the plug is now bad and not making a connection to the new valve because of this? I am lost and do not know where to go from here. Also I have replaced all (4) of the O2 sensors in the infiniti. Could it be my mass flow air sensor or anything else? Please help!

On these cars if the idle air control shorts it will damage the ecm.Went through this problem myself.Remove the ecm, pretty easy to remove, its located below the center console.Remove the four cover screws and you will see the burnt or damaged area, sometimes it even blows little chunks out of the circuitery. Now you have to replace the ecm and have it reprogrammed.
