I own a 2000 I30 with idle problems dating back to last year. I have read several posts in this forum relating to the P0505 code. I purchased the IACV but not the ECM yet (not buying a new one, that's for sure). I work part-time and it's been difficult raising the cash for the repairs. It has been over a year since my car was running. I want to get it back to running condition, starting with the battery. In anyone's opinion, will the expense be too much? Should I use the money I have saved for far in getting another car instead of the repairs? I really like this car. Would appreciate a word from anyone. Thanks.

Hi everyone. Here's an update. After two years, I finally listened to my next-door neighbor and had my car towed, along with the IACV I purchased from Ebay, to his mechanic in September, 2015. Luckily I did not need to replace the ECU, so he replaced the IACV and did an oil change.

Since I got my car back on the road, I have had the power steering hose, two ignition coils and battery terminals replaced. However, I've been having problems starting up right away. When I first start the car, I have to give it a little gas, keeping the accelerator above 1000 rpm for about 5 seconds before letting off the gas; then the car idles, warming up about 5 minutes. When the rpm falls just under 1000 I can take off. I've taken it to my mechanic but no codes came up. However, this past weekend I was in heavy traffic and the car cut off. It took 4 tries before the car would start and stay running. When I took it to my mechanic this morning, his assistant ran diagnostics and came up with code P0456. It has to do with the IACV but does anyone know more about this code? Could it be the throttle body or its sensor? Would I need to replace the IACV again?

My car has cut off on me about 3 times since I have had it repaired and running. I know it's an old car and it was sitting for over 2 years before I got the repairs done. I wish I had not waited so long. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I wish my car would have normal stuff go wrong instead of all this crap. Very expensive to repair. Hope to hear from someone soon.
