I'm looking at a 2000 i30 w 108k but want to know how reliable they are and what their trouble spots are. I can't afford serious problems

Mass air flow...

When these cars get to 120K the Mass Air flow Sensor automatically goes out, so you might want to consider that. Also, I30's are finicky when it comes to after market parts, so you also might want to consider anything going wrong, you HAVE to get OEM parts. I love my car, but ive dumped more money replacing parts than what its worth. If I where you, I would consider a comperable car. Theres a lot of "weird" problems that can be masked for a short time, and after youve had it for a month or 2, youre back to where you started. I do prefer foreign cars, however, its not ideal if youre on a budget. Hope this helps

I agree with jmwilson. Replace the mass air flow. Get the gasket and seals checked out, another common item that needs replacement for the i30.

plus most parts are dealer only parts and they get pretty expensive

I have a 2000 I30 WITH 340K miles. I bought it new. It has been the best car I have ever owned. I replaced my coil packs around 125K. Replaced my a/c compressor in the 200k range and in the 300k range have replaced cv joints, front struts and right side lower control arm and outer tie rod. I still have original struts on rear. The V6 burns no oil and still has plenty of power. I just keep changing the oil at 5k intervals. Wish they still made this model.

2000 130

i also have the 2000 i30 with 195k mil i agree with thim... it is a great car i love my baby.... but this car is not cheep. and at the moment of me righting this!! i am replaceing my inner and outer tierods. boots. and im waiting on my stunts to come in. as my front stunts our shot... at 190k my starter went up easy fix at 195k my stunts went out......easy fix but not cheep the tierods and bushings or something you should replace once you get thim.. if i where you. i replace thim with energy suspension/polyurethane bushings. it well save you alote and give you a better smooth ride... if you do wont to upgrade your car u can go with hks comp 2 to start with besides the mass flow senser.. if not you well have alote of problems upgrading...if you get a cold air inteck upgrade the mass flow sencer!!! if not thin there was no point installing the cold air ineck.. o and get a voltage stabler if i spelled that right? lol

i been moding my car for the past munth... just to see what i can do to a i30 and am so happy with what i got here i am thanking of selling my other car

only thing bodykits.. have fun looking. me my self i making thim our used to so its not to much of a deal to me. but i spent 3 munths looking and i only found stock so if your looking for a nice body u might need to make one your self

Substitute the huge air circulation. Get the gasket and closes examined out, another typical product that needs replace the i30 . . . . .
