Saying Goodbye

Well all it's been a good run now with 2 QX56's. Just got back from trading in my 13 on a new Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel Mega Cab. Decided that having a good safe tow vehicle for the new trailer made the most sense.

Picking up the Sunset trail 32BH travel trailer tomorrow weighing in dry at 7200lbs, too much for the old QX.

Hi All,

I have decided to sell the QX soon and will be moving on to a Range Rover. The main need we had for the QX56 was towing (and it is one very good tow vehicle for an SUV) but we have sold our trailer and no longer need the QX.

Thanks to everyone for the contributions and advice. Best of luck with your Infiniti it is a very sound and reliable vehicle.

Best,
Darrin

Saying Good Bye

Hey guys, it's been a pleasure being a part of this forum for the past few years. I just sold my 2011 QX56 and bought a new 2014 Toyota Tundra CrewMax Limited 4 X 4 in blue ribbon metallic. I know it's a bit of a change but I really missed having a truck. I will no longer be frequenting this site and I just wanted to say Adios, farewell, au revior and goodbye :)

Moving to a different vehicle...

I sold my 2011 QX tonight and replaced it with a 2017 Pilot. I'll miss the actual 4wd for when the snow gets really hairy but i won't miss the monthly repairs. The last straw was coming to a conclusion that my transmission was having issues (this is after a full engine replacement, cats, both fuel pumps, the master cylinder, etc). I can'[t put more money into the car at this point. Shockingly to me, the Pilot is almost as big inside as the QX.

The QX will remain the nicest car i've ever had, but i couldn't stomach trading it in for a newer one. Maybe in a few years when i see how reliability turns out on the refresh coming later this year.

Anyway, this forum was very helpful to me, so thank you all for that.

BTW if anyone wants a set of snows in the Westchester NY area, let me know. They are DMV1s and have 1 winter on them (less than 10k miles, probably less than 5 since the car was broken most of the winter).

Are the DMV1s for the 22" OE wheels? If so, I'm in NYC so Westchester isn't too far; how much are you looking to sell them for?

yes, they are for the 22s. i really don't know on price -- not looking to make money here. $50-75 each or something like that sound fair? I used them for probably part of feb-march-part of april. I'm going to guess thats about 5k miles as i usually do about 10 from Dec to April.

I could meet you in the middle somewhere like off 87 down by Ridge Hill in Yonkers or something.

best of success on your new car. sad that you had so many issues with your version but it happens.

I hope the new vehicle will exceed your expectations.

thanks, hope so too. i can say 3 days in that while it's not super luxurious, its a really nice car. the qx was the nicest car i've ever had...it just cost me too much in repairs.

I remember your posts from back when you signed up (remember the midnight grill?). As i recall, you were one of the most frequent posters. you were helpful as well.

although none of us really know each other, we do form some type of brotherhood on here.

when one of us leaves the camp, its a sad day but totally understand one has to do what one has to do for their family and for their lifestyle.

you'll be missed sir (just as the other cats that left in this thread), but your posts will be here to help others when making a decision to purchase a used (or new ) qx , which is part of the focus of this forum.

cheers bro!

Yes I highly recommend the midnight black grille! I hate chrome :)

I also wanted to jump in here and say "thanks" to everyone that helped me out while I owned a QX. This forum was invaluable, and helped me make the most out of the situations that I found myself in with my QX. Maybe Nissan will get this platform sorted out, and I'll be back someday. Until then, I wish everyone a whole lot of good luck!

I will be selling my 2011 in the next few days and wanted to say goodbye and thanks to the members and this forum for all the valuable information. I've owned the car for 3 years and had the timing chain replaced and later reimbursed. Both cats were replaced prior to me owning the car so I didn't have any issues so far.

I do have the stuttering at low rpms. And what has caused me to worry is the fact that sometimes the car will not start even though the fob is inside and all dash lights turn on. Ruled out fob battery. I would try a few more times and it would start normally. A fellow member on here stated it was the transmission control module which was like >$4k? Out of warranty, I think it is time to move on before it gets worse.

For such a big car, I will miss how fast it is. This thing can move with just about anything on the road. But we've had fun and will retire this to Carmax by the end of the week and will look for another adventure.
