Hey guys. I just got a call from my wife. She filled our qx up yesterday and went home. This am when she cranked up to go to work the gas hand shows 1/4 tank? I read about the inaccurate fuel gauge and mine has already shown to be the same but this issue is not acceptable.
Any ideas what may have caused this to happen? This is the third tank of fuel on the vehicle and it has around 600 miles on it.
Thanks!!

ive not heard this issue. these cars are not out there as other cars are and many many people who owns these cars do not come to websites.

as the person on the other forum mentioned to you, take it to dealer.. or i see they are coming to pick it up. good. follow up with the progress for others who come along asking the same question...

I would think that Infiniti would be way beyond this problem with the fuel tank sensor. This has been a TSB for all earlier models and is free to repair.

The fix must have been included in the 2012 models. I'd be interested to see what Infiniti comes up with on your SUV.

BTW - I had the fuel float replaced in my 2007 about a year ago and it is still off reading anything under a quarter of a tank. It shows an 1/8 of a tank and fills up with 26 gals. That's too close even for me.

It's scheduled to go into the dealer on Monday when my wife gets back in town. I'll post the findings.

It ain't fixed till you can fill around 26 gallons after it says empty. Don't let them give u the bull about "reserve fuel". If it is not stated in the manual then it does not exist

in the operators handbook, it does state there is a reserve petrol section in the tank... .:P

I just downloaded the handbook and here is what it says

"The low fuel warning appears on the
dot matrix liquid crystal display when the
fuel tank is getting low. Refuel as soon as it
is convenient, preferably before the gauge
reaches “0”. There will be a small reserve
of fuel in the tank when the fuel gauge
needle reaches “0”."

Does "small reserve" translate to 15% (4 gallon) of tank capacity? Maybe it is "Working as designed"?

My 2012 never takes more than 20gallons. ISsthere a TSB out there for a problem with the tank sensor ?

I am gonna be so pissed when I take delivery of my 2012 and find out I cannot put more than 20 gallons into it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any Update??

None as of this reply. I'm out of town and the dealer hasn't contacted me to let me know he's ready for it. Hopefully they can get to it tomorrow. I'll update as soon as I have some answers.

Did you take it to your dealer? What did he say?

Truck is going in for a scheduled oil change at the end of June, I'll ask at that time as it is not a problem that is causing to much of an issue. I will run the tank to 0 the next couple of tanks to see how much gas the truck will take and report back to the forum.

Turns out my wife didn't convey what she was trying to say very clearly. AFTER taking the dealer and their techs time trying to check for the problem did she tell me that gas gauge had DROPPED 1/4 to 3/4 of a tank quickly which is pretty normal for all vehicles. Wish I had better news to report but in this case no news is good news right?
