Does anyone know if you can have the Q show front view camera when put in drive? I know it will come on till truck hits 9mph when manually pushed but can this be done on its own? I seem to remember that I had rear camera and then it switched to front view on its own but I can't remember how.....anyone?

the front camera on the 2011+ Q will only operate at speeds below 10mph. safety feature.

you may hear others post up about going into the service mode and accessing the cameras, yes plural because you can see all the cameras in the service mode, however, doing this will cause you to screw with the calibration settings of the front camera and render it unreliable when used in conjunction with the other cameras when backing up, birds eye view, etc.

in short, no there is not a way to do this.

I realize it cuts off after the 10mph but is there a way for it to switch to front camera right after you change out of reverse on its own? I swear that it has done this on my 2011 a few times before. I can't for the life of me recreate it so I'm wondering if I'm making things up?

im not following you.

are you saying when you put the car in DRIVE, you want the system to activate the front view camera? is this correct?

i do know when you press the CAMERA button you have options there of which views you want to see. example, when i park on the side of the curb, i will press the camera button, then select the side view camera so i can look at the curb. so, i can put the car in reverse, and the around view will activate. THEN as i put it back in DRIVE, the side cam will come back up since it was the last view selected and since i am in CAMERA mode. usually if i just reverse, the around view comes up but when i get out of reverse, the camera view goes away and the nav screen (or whatever was on prior to the reverse selection) pops back up.

I would guess if you select the front cam in this example, it should go to the front view after you select DRIVE....

am i even close to what you are asking? :o

Yes,camera activate automatically whenever put into drive as it does in reverse. I do realize camera cuts off at about 9mph

Yep, I get what he's saying. I have to back out of my garage every morning. When I put the car in reverse, the camera comes on to show what is behind me. Once I put the car in drive, the camera turns off. I can turn it on by pushing the camera button, but I think Seoul is saying it would be nice for the front camera to automatically come on until you reach a speed of 9mph.

This would also be helpful when backing out of a parking space.

the camera will not turn on by itself. there is no setting that will allow this.
but im still confused.. if one wants the camera to "turn on" automatically, why not just push the camera button? :o

i guess im asking is it really difficult to press the button? please do not think I am trying to be a smart butt or anything like that, i really just am not getting the full understanding of what the OP and you are saying.. if one UNDERSTANDS the cam will shut off at 9mph and that is not a problem, then simply pressing the cam button should be just fine.

but i can assure you there is no setting in the car that allows automatic activation of the camera in any other position other than reverse.

I get what you're saying. I work at an Infiniti store and see that happen fairly often on test drives. From my experiance, this is how it seems to work:

If you press the camera button while in park and than go into reverse, the display automaticaly reverts back to your last screen upon selecting Drive, which in this case would be the aroundview camera's forward look.

Hope this helps

Thank you Akun24, i thought i was going crazy thinking it happened but just like you said is how it happened...thanks,

right, so press the camera button and select FORWARD (or side, etc..) mode whilst in the CAMERA MODE and as you go into reverse mode to around view, then back into any gear OTHER than reverse, the previous selected mode will pop back up.

I said the exact same thing in post #4 with all due respect. :o

my thoughts were that you wanted the cam to activate whilst driving faster than 10mph and that was where the disconnect occurred.

nevertheless, pleased you have it figured out... :)

No, it's not difficult to press the button. It's a matter of convenience.

I can press the button to turn the camera on. I can press the button to turn the AC on. I can turn the switch to turn the wipers on. I can turn the switch to turn the headlights on...

Just saying it's better when it happens automatically.

I bet you wouldn't think it was so simple if you had to press that camera button every time before backing up.

just so you know, i meant that in all due respect. its muscle memory for me to press the button. its pressed and into the desired view mode before i even think about it. put the car in reverse and as the right had goes back to the steering wheel, my finger presses the cam key, all in 1 second...

yes its much more simpler for me to push the button than to roll down windows, stick my head out, or open a door to gauge when i back up to the wall, etc.

convenience sometimes is taken for granted. once upon a time, there were SUVs with no backup camera, now we have 5! :D

but hey, i also read on the armada forum that someone was asking if there was a way to automatically fold in the mirrors once the car goes into park. flipping the switch was just too much for them.. ;)

I remember when one had to physically fold in the mirrors BUY HAND! :D

different strokes for different folks.. :D

hey just pokin' fun, not meaning to sound disrespectful.
