Hi

I've had a 2011 QX for a little over two years, and have had no issues.

The other day I get in the vehicle with the fob in a bag sitting on the passenger seat, as I often do when I go to work. I put my foot on the brake, press the start button and nothing happens. Vehicle says there's no key present. I hold the fob right over the start button, still not recognized. I get out lock the doors, unlock the doors with the fob and try again. Nothing.

Fortunately I'm at home and get the other fob. It works fine. I go to work and on a break test the fob battery from quite some distance by locking and unlocking the car. No problem. I go to the truck with only the 'bad' fob and everything works perfectly.

I'm now scared to go anywhere without that secong fob. Battery was the first thought I had, but it can do things from a distance still. Anyone had this intermittant fob issue before? Any suggestions?

Thanks
Peter

Man.. I was just gonna post this today.

Got into my Q and hit start button.. dash displays "NO KEY" ... RATS!!!! battery finally died on me, as I've had the low battery signal for a few months now. Now I'm thinking, what does one do if they don't have a spare battery... am I stuck out here at the office with 3 hot nurses inside or do I call the wife and say bring me the spare key/fob??? hmmmmm???

Well.. I didn't get to test those options. I opened the fob, nearly busting 2 fingernails and took out the battery (#2025) gave it the ole rub a dub dub (static charge)... put it back in and the car started!!!! BAMM!... drove to Target got a 2-pack for $7bucks, had the kid at the register open the package there, as I probably wouldn't have been able to start the Q again on that dead battery.

As a bonus... when the car started... I got FREE XM again (maybe 40 channels)... must be the Holiday tease package they let loose every Quarter.

Hold the brake and touch the FOB onto the start button, you'll get a chime. Push the button, start the vehicle and go get a battery.
