Our 2005 QX56 was in for a fuel sending level recall last summer at which time the service manager told me that they were replacing the left side catalytic converter. This was due to the fuel pump and sending unit being defective and all of it was replaced under the emission control warranty. The vehicle had approximately 79000 miles on it at that time.

This spring, the service engine soon light came on and the code was the right side catalytic converter. This was at approximately 92000 miles. Infiniti will not pay for replacement because it is past the 80000 emission control warraunty yet it was the same issue that was a recall that caused the left one to go out.

When asked what to do I was told that my only recourse was to contact the Better Business Bureau!!! I am amazed and disappointed at the same time. I am in the market to replace the QX56 and another Nissan product will not be in my future. BTW I own a 2010 Titan and Altima...:(:(:(

you may want to call the area manager for Infiniti, and let them know your disappointment. plus u could mention that they should have replaced BOTH converters.

did u not purchase the extended warranty???

how much is it to replace this catalytic converter anywayz???

I have talked to Infiniti and this was their decision to not cover the 2nd failure. No, I did not purchase the extended warruanty as I had not planned on keeping this vehicle as long as we have. The point is that it should be covered anyway as 2 dealerships have verified that the failure was caused by the defective fuel sending unit.

cat cost
