Is there any way to play a dvd on the rear seats and use the headphones to listen while the driver can still listen to the radio?

2013 QX56

yes , do you have the operators manual? it explains how to do this there.

is this a new or used vehicle? do you have the factory nissan remote and IR headsets?

if so, the remote is used in back for each screen separately. there is a "1" and "2" to denote which screen the remote will work with at any given time.

the IR headsets, if nisssan factory, have a 1/2 selection on them. headset switched to #1 should be used on the driver side and #2 on passenger side.

up front, the driver can listen to a separate source from the rear and if you have a external device plugged into the RCA ports (or a DVD OR a USB drive), each screen (up front plus each rear) can have a separate source going to it all at the same time.

again this is in the operators manual to get more details on...

I've found with mine that i can listen to XM and i think FM/AM just by pushing the corresponding button, and also the iPod (by removing and reinserting the USB cable for it), but cannot listen to the hard drive based music source or the aux music source. Can't push disc/aux button or the movie gets shut off. 2011 here.

2011+ AV systems in these qx's all act the same, so we should all be seeing the same behavior...

in can assure you each position in the car (up front, left rear/right rear) can play different inputs all at the same time. its one of the features nissan boasted about when these cars were produced.

perhaps i am missing something (which is easy to do on the internet) but i have personally had something playing up front and separate inputs in the rear monitors just to test and prove this on another forum for a prospective buyer of these cars... ;)

you can listen to different inputs, but you can't access aux input (the one in the armrest) in the front if you are using the DVD player.

i think we are cross talking, which is possible on a web forum.

the rear RCA baseband inputs can be used as a unique separate input for the rear occupants. there are a finite amount of configurations that can be setup in the cabin. the RCA inputs in front are on the same digital input as the rear and thus cant be used separately over the rear RCA inputs.

to accommodate, one can use the usb drive (ive done it ) or DVD for front use if the rear is using different inputs.
