I've had my 2011 QX56 for about a month (after having the previous model for 3.5 years) & was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for 2 issues which I would call design flaws as I believe they are working in the way Infiniti intended them to. I was also hoping that this feedback could in some way trickle back to Infiniti.
Ok, on to item #2, which is a real bother... The HATCH!
We have a tight garage. So much so that without both the side-view mirrors folding, we would not be able to get into our garage. When we had our 2008 QX56 & parked it in the garage & wanted to get something out of the "trunk" we'd leave our garage door open so as to give the hatch door the ability to open and us the ability to access it. At the top of the hatch opening it would hit the garage door which was in the up position. Not a problem; no harm in the paint as it was a light touch at the end of the hatch-opening sequence.
Now in the 2011 with the same sequence we have a problem. The addition of the rear wing that is at the top of the hatch and acts as some sort of shade umbrella for the rear contents or as some sort of down-draft if you want to take this baby on the track... that "thing" now hits the top of the garage within moments of you trying to open the hatch and then the hatches just closes back up! Ugh! But wait, I'll just pop the rear hatch glass like I could on the 2008! Double ugh! They took the glass pop-up out of the rear hatch! Why?
Any ideas? Help? Names/e-Mails of those responsible at Nissan/Infiniti? Thanx!
This was from another post but I have the same problem. The whole center console between the passenger and drivers seats is now an arm rest that slides forward to accommodate different sized people in the front seat. This replaces the captain's chair individual arm rests that were are each seat in the previous model & would fold up if you didn't want to use them. In all honesty, this whole new console is a waste of space and sends people looking to find the button to try and pop the top off to find more features but there are none. It just slides back and forth. When you are coming to a stop & you have your arm on this over-sized-arm-rest-for-two, it starts sliding forward. You need to be consciously keeping it in place as you are braking. Seems dangerous to boot! The only thing that is somewhat of a nuisance is the front center armrest doesn't have any real detents to stop the armrest from moving forward
