Hi all. I'm totally new to Infiniti and it's my first post here. I've always wanted a G and now that I'm ready to replace a 2000 Maxima I'm considering a G37 but, of course, it's much smaller than the Maxima. I've got 2 car seats in the back and was therefore also thinking of the M35.

Price-wise, a used 2009 M35 or G37 both seem very reasonable, in particular the M35 i.e. (http://autos.yahoo.com/car-compare/overview/?trimId0=26185&trimId1=26103&hideghost=1). The M was $12k more than the G when new, but now is only $2,500 more for a used 2009...

Can anyone explain why the M35 depreciated so much more than the G37?

Also, any other thoughts on the M35 vs. G37 aside from obvious size difference would be greatly appreciated.

Lastly, I was also thinking of an Acura TL (2008) or simply another Maxima (2009). If you have any thoughts to sway me towards Infiniti vs. TL or Maxima please let me know.

Thanks in advance for you help!

The depreciation probably occurred due to the new model (M37) coming out. The G went to 3.7 liter before the M.
As far as the M vs the G, the M is much more luxurious, and seats adults more comfortably. I like the look of the G a lot better, but the M has a nicer fit and finish (entry level vs a step up from entry level). The G will possibly be a little bit faster, and have more grunt in the engine/exhaust sound. In addition, it will get slightly (2 maybe?) better MPG. The M is a guzzler though, so you may appreciate that. If you're going to be riding with the car seats often, I would definitely go for the M.
I don't have much info on the Acura, but as far as the Maxima is concerned, it's pretty similar to the M, just fewer bells/whistles/performance numbers.

Good luck! Not sure if this is still relevant to your search..
