Took the beast in for servicing.. 105k service to be exact.

how much is a freckn sparkplug??... try $36.44 each x 8 = $291.52

how much is a freckn stock battery?? $140 (which isn't bad).. BUT $49.95 to INSTALL it ... what the freck

how much are freckn front brakes / rotors??
rotors: $174.0 1 each
brakes: $127.48
LABOR to install said brakes/rotors??? $270 ... really?? it took them almost 3 hours to do brakes??!!! come on, lets be serious with these bogus hyper-inflated labor hours these dealers charge!!

Came out with a bill for nearly $2100 for these services... of which $760 was for labor!!!!:confused:

? LOL

its no secret $tealers make their money on maintenance. you do have a high end car so expect to pay high end prices. its the same at mercedes, porsche, bentley, et al.

you could have replaced the brakes and pads yourself or at a brake shop
you could have purchased an aftermarket battery for cheaper and installed it yourself.

i understand you need to vent but didnt they give you a price breakdown PRIOR to service? you didnt have to do anything on the quote or could have taken some things off..

its kinda like complaining the car does not get good petrol mileage when one knows its a v8 5.6 L engine pushing a 6500+ pound car..

Come on rough... :p

Why is it every post is about a complaint about the QX? Really you purchased a higher end car and expect discounted prices. I really struggle to see or show empathy for someone, when they know what they are getting into.

Easiest way to fix your issue so you can stop your harping. Sell the car and get a KIA.

I've had just the opposite experience with my dealer. They always give me 20% off their somewhat inflated parts prices, but I haven't been able to find decent quality replacements for cheaper. I thought they were crazy asking 55 for an air filter, but spent a week calling around town and searching the Internet without finding a reputable part for cheaper. When I went back, they installed it for me for free. Not that it's rocket surgery to replace an air filter, but they certainly didn't have to.

Those services you mentioned can either be done yourself or by a local mechanic without the stealership markup. I just bought the top of the line Diehard battery from Sears for close to $300 and installed it myself. The heck with the weak factory Infiniti battery! All one needs is a 10mm and a socket wrench.

I replaced all 4 pads on the QX myself for maybe over $100? I'm sure if the rotors or plugs need replacing, I can tackle that as well.

If you do bring it in for service at a stealership, there is ALWAYS wiggle room. When I had my timing chain failure a few months back, the original quote was $4.4k then down to $3.3k. I walked out paying $1.9k something.

I'm venting about the bullchit pricing... and don't tell me $2k doesn't hurt even those making mid-upper 6-figures... That's the problem nowadayz, companies/corporations keep jacking up the prices, that some of y'all have become numb to the fact that we're being swindled.

marc... no they didn't tell me about the darn battery, until I picked it up.. said "we figured you'd ok it"... as for the brakes, the rotors were still fine, but had "a little rust on them, so we think you should replace them", otherwise they wouldn't turn them, which would otherwise wear the new pads prematurely.

Evil... i'm not expecting "discounted" pricing, I'm expecting fair pricing.. and don't freckn' preach to me about selling or going KIA, F U on that comment... I buy premium because I want premium, but that doesn't mean I want someone's stick in my doodoo.

I have no qualms about paying for service, but I do expect pricing to be fair... don't charge me for 8hrs of labor when I picked up the car 5hrs later; despite what the freckn book says. If the book says brakes should take 3hrs and you finish in 2hrs, charge me 2hrs.... it's a certainty if the brake job took 8hrs they'd charge me 8hrs of labor and not 3hrs; so YES I expect fairness. Parts... had I gone into the service department to pickup the sparkplugs, they'd been $30, but they charged $36 per plug ... come on don't you people see that??!!!

Some of you guys can preach after the fact about knowing the cost of things... but when you're at work and the need the beast (name of your car here) back timely and the service guy calls and says this and that, you're not really a tune to the true cost until you go pick it up and look at the invoice............. and before you harp on why I didn't confront the situation when I picked up the beast.. I did, but the service guy was gone already... so yes , I'll speak with him about it Monday.

hopefully you will get some relief, but the shop cant do anything without your permission.

if you needed a vehicle, they should provide you with one. the shop i use provides a courtesy car.

i don think anyone is trying to bash you, but does not make sense to vent when you had every right to refuse anything and move to another service shop or look into other independent shops.

i understand your frustration and i understand last minute things can happen...

I hear ya OP.

Dealerships are dicks.

However, it could be worse. You could own a BMW M5 that requires a $450 battery + $50 installation + $117 for battery 'registration'.

Ask me how I know.....
