My 2012 QX56 camera was working but the back up camera was dead. Just buying a new back up camera, but now the Camera is dead! I go to Settings/Other/Camera/Enter, and nothing happens. What is the problem/solution?

Glenn

I may need a CCU. Where is it located on my 2012 QX56?

Glenn

sorry to hear you are having issues.
are you saying the backup camera you just bought is dead?
were you sure it was working before you installed it? was it brand new or used/refurb/3rd party?

The back up camera was dead when I got the 56 3 months ago. All other camera views did work. Now I have bought a good used back up camera, just waiting to get it, and as luck would have it, NOW all cameras are not working. so I am wondering what is the location of the CCU? I may need a new one.

Do you know where the ccu is? just a simple answer would help as I looked through the AV PDF but did notsee it.

Is it refered to as the Around View Camera Control Unit found on page 9 and is #31 on the diagram.

let's keep all your conversation/questions related to this in one thread, please.

Page 13 Part 33 is AV Unit

The "around view monitor" is a part of the AV unit. if this is bad the entire unit needs to be replaced.

i dont think your av unit is faulty. if your car is used, there may be some modifications the previous owner did or maybe there is an issue with the wiring harness.
what you say "now all the cameras are not working" what is actually happening? do you see "X" on the screen or is it a black/dark/no image screen? do you see the grid lines when you put the car in reverse? did you ever see the grid lines on the rear camera EVEN THOUGH you did not have a rear camera image?

That Diagram calls it "AV Unit" and it looks to be either right below the CD player or to the side of the CD player. Also this is a 2011 Service manual, which should be the same for my 2012 correct?

its the same. dont worry about the year difference.

ive taken the dash apart to install a dvd bypass module. the av unit has all the electronics in it for what I saw. i had a 2012 fully loaded model.

you are encouraged to call an infiniti service shop, and ask them what they see on their exploded diagram. as i showed you in the IP service manual, it lists the av unit inside the main headunit.

Thanks, is there a step by step to take the dash apart? Is there programong needed if I get into the dash, take out the old av unit and install an ebay purchased av unit? Will it just fire up?

Never Mind I found it. It is a 40 step proceedure, WOW, but at least I have a guide.

To back up and answer some earlier questions regarding "whats happening". When truck is put in reverse there is NO change to the video screen at all. What ever is on the screen prior to shifting into reverse, stays on the screen. When i have the truck in park and idleing, and push the CAMERA button, the screen stays the same, no change to any camera image. Further to that, if I press SETTING, and scroll to OTHER and scroll to CAMERA, and press ENTER, nothing happens.

I hope this helps clarify the problem.

there is a test procedure in the AV service manual you can try. it involves holding [setting] button and rotating one of the radio knobs (forget which). maybe you have done this?
there is also a module in the rear that superimposes the grid lines on the screen when the rear camera is activated. as your car is used, you need to verify nothing has been modified from the prior owner(s), or else you will be chasing your tail. I'd try and remove the head unit and see if there are any shenanigans going on back there (spliced wires, additional 3rd party items, etc…)

Had great luck on the weekend. I installed a used rear camera off of the same year 2012 QX56 and I now have back up camera and birds eye view. The only thing is on the birds eye view their is an X in the box at the rear camera. The view is fine, but I don't know what that X means or what to do about it?

I have trouble navigating through this manual. Can you provide the section and page?

can you be more specific as to what section please?

Unless you’ve got access to Nissan’s Consult or a full range diagnostic tool, you won’t be able to calibrate the camera(s).

So you are saying that I need to go to Infiniti to get this done?

you will need to go to a shop who has access to the nissan CONSULT software or compatible tool to calibrate and register the camera properly.
