maybe just brake dust?

If your squeal is intermittent, go to a car wash and just hose off those calipers and brake pads. Hose off the area between the brake pads and rotor. Wash out some of that dust buildup. If you do a lot of slow-speed stop and go driving, brake dust builds up in there and will cause a squeal.
Just make sure you are above 32 degree's Fahrenheit so they won't freeze on you.
You may not need brake pads. I wouldn't think they are wore at 25k, unless you use them hard?
Try that and let us know. They probably are not hard to change, if you end up doing it yourself.
Have a good one

good post parrot.

there is nothing special about the brakes. any competent brake shop can turn rotors/replace pads. you could even replace the pads yourself.

when you get into the suspension (if you have HBMC) then you are in a different ball game.. :D

So I had this brake squeal issue on my front right tire. I took it to the dealer today and they said the brake pad was "highly glazed" and causing the squealing noise. There was plenty of brake pad left but they resurfaced the front rotors and replaced the front brake pads under warranty to get rid of the noise.

good info. i hear this squeal when im leaving the garage at the job. its one time as i pull up to the arm thing to swipe my card to get out. after that initial squeal, its gone.

i ASSumed it was the glazed surface of the brake pad as well.

cool to know they did this under warranty. ive a 12 at 21k miles. still plenty of shoe left on the pads as i was just in for the diaper change (oil change :D) a couple weeks ago. i forgot to mention it to them then. :)

OK, what is the difference with the HBMC?

That's how mine started and got progressively louder and worse. Eventually it became really embarrassing to pull up to a stop sign with a lot of people watching. Almost sounded like fingernails scrapping a chalk board.
