Just picked up a new QX but cannot seem to locate the plugin for the brake controller. Does anyone have pics or can point me in the right direction?

I dont have pics but it is under the dash on the drivers side right near the center column if I recall correctly.

Hope that helps.

It should be right under the dash - if you don't have any luck I will snap a picture of my controller install and able connection tomorrow.

Still can't find it....

Ugh. Sat under the dash 3 times now - not sure if it may be bundled with something else. I have a Tekonsha 3050-P harness - is this the correct harness?

A pic would be awesome!

Nevermind

I finally found it. To the RIGHT of the sterring column and electrical taped to death. Impossible to see with all of the tape. Not sure if they switched it with the mid-yesr 2013 models.

Sorry got wrapped up in some items on Sunday and never got a pic taken for you. Glad you found it. I had the Inifiniti dealer do the first install on my 2011, and they offered to move it with my 2013. So I've never actually seen it all bundled up before..

I have a 2011 and mine was wrapped in electrical tape too. Can you post up some pix of where you installed the brake control? I have a Tekonsha brake control and the same harness. I put it under the steering wheel but I'm considering moving it.

I was going to mount mine under the dash but I had no way to do so without bumping into it. I ended up mounting it in the center console ( I have a Tekonsha P3 which can be mounted vertically) and now it is out of site and I wont knock it around with my knees.

mine is mounted very low and I don't seem to bump it at all..

Darrin, can you post pix? My Tekonsha wiring harness isn't that long. Did you buy a wiring extension?

Sorry on the road for work at present, so no pics. I paid a local car stereo shop $45 to do the extension and routing for me.

I put mine to the right of the steering wheel under the dash. There is a brake setting switch the labeled "EBS" or something. I mounted directly to the right of it using on of the factory screws under the dash and therefore only had one screw I needed to drill.

If you choose this location make sure it is far enough left of the brake switch under the dash so it does not accidentally depress it.

The QX tows a 32' 6500lb trailer like nothing.....Tekonsha P3 makes for a seamless braking experience.

Brake Controller Jumper Harness

I need to install a trailer brake controller on my 2014 QX80. My dealership parts guys said there is a jumper harness available for $30. The Internet websites sell them for about $10 but they only vouch compatibility for the earlier QX56's. I don't see any cable hanging under the dash for any easy plug-in. Has anybody installed a brake controller on a QX56 using a plug-in jumper harness, or does this beast have to be hard wired? Thanks.

The owners manual for my 2006 says that the connector for a brake controller is under the dash near the parking brake. It has a white label that says "electric brake connector". The manual also states the purpose of each wire on the connector. I would expect your manual to include this info. I found it in Chapter 9 "Technical and Consumer Information".

E-Brake controller

For those of you that tow large trailers where did you mount your electric brake controller?
On my GMC Envoy I had it mounted on the lower dash by my right leg. The switch for the IBA would be in the same location on the QX56 so I can't use that area and I would like it to be as invisible as possible.
Thanks!

I put mine under the armrest. Works nicely and is out of the way of my knees. See photo.

Killer idea! Thanks for the pic. Did you have to get an extension cable to run that distance or did you splice in your own wires?

I paid a car stereo install shop to do it and he just extended the harness I had purchased.

Some controllers do in fact need to be level or near level. I am using the Tekonsha P3 and it does not. The owners manual actually shows mounting zero to three hundred sixty as the mounting orientation. I actually called them directly just to be certain. It does need to be mounted correctly (vertically in my case) in the other dimension.
