This is Alvin from Borla Performance Industries in CA. Borla is looking for a 2011-12 QX56 for exhaust development at our R&D facility in Oxnard, CA. Timing is immediately for 2-3 weeks duration. In return the owner will receive our new exhaust system installed at no charge along with the original exhaust. If you own this vehicle and live local to our facility, please send a PM. Thanks for your time!

cool

Too bad I live in Virginia. Are you all planning duals?

You can tell that motor has a good sound to it now I don't think that final resonator is needed, but you have to be careful you don't get the 'drone'.
That will give you a headache after an hour going down the road. And then you get the drone from the wife. It goes bad quick.
Good Luck guys !
Thanks
Parrott

i dont have any real drone. with the 7 speed transmission, i can cruise and not even hear the engine running.

i have a magaflow installed and removed the back end second muff/resonator thingy.

V8 rumble

That's good to hear Mark. I wondered what the last resonator was for. I can cut that thingy off. Put a nice pipe in its place with no restriction. So Magnaflow has one already? I will have to check out their website.
I bet it does sound good now !

apologies for hijacking this thread.. :( FWIW, i messaged the op of the thread as i was interested so at least im not totally being an idiot. :(

the magaflow works well. the oem muff was really heavy (according to the installer guy) and of good quality he said. its a 22 inch muff. and the resonator does its job well of keeping the system quiet but it will hide that growl from the magnaflow.

you can hear the V8 now! just like it sounded in the armada. when you are at cruising speeds on the interstate, you can not hear the drone at all. heck you cant even hear the engine! makes you think you are in a electric car (thats just the quality of the infiniti) i give credit to the 7 speed gear box on the sucker. i mean the car is whisper quiet until you step on the accelerator and then it "growwwwwwwwlllllsssss......"

now its a real suv and not a yuppie melrose rodeo drive rich wife hauler.. :D

what about the exhaust look? do you cut the bumper? any pictures of the pipes?

as for me, you cant see anything at the rear. the muffler is up under the passenger side and the rear resonator was cut of so the pipe stops just under the bumper. the shop just welded a piece of pipe to make it end right under the bumper so you dont see anything.. which is how i preferred it.
